We are going on our 1st Community Social Distance Bike Rides this Saturday, January 2nd with a visit to Donutman in Glendora. ... We placed a Ghost Bike for an Lifelong Azusa Resident Johnny Dominguez, who was hit on Friday Night as he left his work and began his Bike Ride home. He only made it a couple of feet as he was struck by a truck and passed from his injuries on Saturday morning. We would like to thank some amazing volunteers that helped with this project. ... Lester from the Inland Empire who prepared the Ghost Bike and transported it to Azusa, Mathew from Hollywood also representing Ghost Bikes LA and Diane for her prayer for Johnny.

Locked Down this afternoon? Join us for our COVID COMEDY SHOW today at 5pm from the comfort of your home. Sugguested donation is only $1.50 - One thin Dollar and 50 Cents. Not bad for a family outing.

This afternoon a dad and his three daughters came into Stans Bike Shop to have one of their Bikes get a brake adjustment. They stopped in while enjoying a family Bike Ride. As we were working on their Bike, the daughters sat down to play with Chispa and Spokes our shop pets. Minutes later we finished the adjustment, they were on their way out when they realized one of the girls Bikes was stolen from the front of the shop. ... They went straight to the Police station to fill out a police report. When I left the shop I was thinking of that family and that stolen Bike and the devastation they must of been feeling. As families are trying to deal with COVID19 and trying to do something enjoyable together. They lose a Bike as the father was trying to enrich his girls afternoon with a trek around the neighborhood. I happen to glance over to the 711 at Foothill and Pasadena Ave., I see a Azusa Police Officer had stopped a female transient with a white Bike that happened to match the description of the Bike that was stolen in front of the shop (after confirming it via a phone call with a friend who was at the Bike Shop when it happened). The Police Officer coordinated with the dispatcher and made contact with the family and shared the news that they had recovered their Bike. The three daughters showed up minutes later with big smiles as they rode their Bikes and their father running behind them. The Police Officer recommended they wipe down that Bike before riding out with it. I told them to Wait and don’t touch the Bike (As I now carry disinfectant with me all the time in the car and spray everything I touch outside my home) I sprayed the Bike and I thanked the Officer and then they all posed for this (blurry) picture. So we wanted to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to the Azusa Police Department, To the alert Officer and the team behind the scenes back at the station for assisting in the recovery of this Stolen Bike. They helped a family create more fun memories riding their Bikes during this difficult time the world is experiencing. To Officer Aguirre who did not want to be mentioned but he does deserve a shout out for some good police work. Be proud of what you did today! A Cyclist was killed on the 600 Block of Azusa Ave on Monday afternoon at 1:30pm. He was traveling with traffic and was wearing a helmet. A construction Gravel Truck ran him over. To honor this Cyclist we will go hang a Ghost Bike in his honor near where the incident took place. Please join us on Thursday, January 30th at 7pm. Meet up in front of Stans Bike Shop and we will take a very short Bike Ride to hang the Ghost Bike. All community members are invited to join us.

This 80 year old Great Grandmother from Claremont CA, was out for a training ride when she experienced double flats. She arrived in style with a Azusa Fire Department Escort. We seen Firemen carry in the Bike and I thought the worst. They had seen her stranded up the road and made sure she arrived safely. She is training for a Road Race in Utah where she has finished in 2nd place only losing by seconds. Her goal is to become #1 in the Country at a Road Race in Utah next year.... She races at the Master Class Road Race level. She told me she will begin training to start Racing in Crits for her first time in 2020. We just started a Stans Bike Shop Strava group yesterday and she said will be joining it. So just in case you want to see here accomplishments.

Avoid the stress and Friday traffic by joining us by bike and Metro rail! We'll meet up at 6pm at the Metro APU/Citrus #GoldLine Station, and roll shortly thereafter. ...
