Our classmate Ron Rapoport was Sports Editor for the Daily while we were undergraduates. Later he had a distinguished career as a sportswriter for Chicago newspapers as well as a commentator for NPR's Morning Edition. Now he's produced a book about the greatest Cub of them all...Ernie Banks! Can't wait to read it, Ron!

we are the champions!!!!! The Men's golf team wins!!! this is our sixth team NCAA national championship in 2018-19 and our 123rd overall NCAA team Championship!! And 43 consecutive seasons with at least one NCAA team championship!! #GoCardinal

For my upcoming class column in the Stanford magazine, I asked several classmates to tell us their experiences in applying to Stanford, how many schools they applied to, and what was the college counseling at their high school. I got several interesting answers! Here's one from Meg Mullen DiNapoli: Interesting you should ask. I applied to Stanford, because my mother went there....and only to Stanford! I had no advice form a counselor. My mother was worried that I might not... get in and then would be very disappointed, but I never imagined that I wouldn't get accepted. I never even knew my SAT score. It's so different from now when my granddaughter applied to at least 12 different colleges, had a tutor for her ACT tests, and paid a college advisor to help her figure out where to apply to. Incidentally, she was accepted at 8 or 10 of them and has chosen to go to Cal (Berkeley), which she is loving. See more
