Dear Parishioners and Friends, San Diego County is once again allowing places of worship to be open, under strict guidelines. Starting Sunday September 6, 2020 St. Mary Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Church will hold Divine Liturgy on Sundays at 10 am.... COVID 19 guidelines will need to be followed: everyone must wear a face covering; social distancing between family units. The choir must remain at the front of the church. ENG/YKP HALYNA KYTASTY 99 years As we just recently mourned the untimely passing of our brother Andrij Kytasty, the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus family feels th...e loss of Halyna Kytasty - a dynamic individual who was such an important part of the ensemble's history throughout the 20th century. We also remember Victor, who like Hryhory, and Andrij, gave so much to Halyna, the Ukrainian community in San Diego and in Ukraine, and to the Bandura. Halyna holds a special place in the history of the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus. She contributed in an organizational leadership role during one of the ensemble’s most delicate points in history and successfully navigated moving the ensemble from Displaced Persons camps of Germany post WWII to Detroit. Thanks for Halyna’s contacts and persistence, the UBC started performing and touring soon after their resettlement in the United States. Her influence and devotion continued through the decades including a chance encounter with an Australian impresario that brought the UBC to Australia. In the year 2007, during the Bandura: The Soul of Ukraine tour by the UBC, Halyna joined the tour for select concerts where many members of the modern ensemble met her for the first time and learned about her tremendous contribution to the UBC mission. There were many inspirational stories of perseverance. And, humor. Halyna’s stories and advice were always welcomed and her energy was inspiring. Вдйшла у Вчнсть Галина Китаста - жнка, котра вдграла неабияку роль у житт та стор ансамблю. Ми також пам‘ятамо про Вктора, котрий, як Григорй та Андрй, вддав сво життя Галин, укранськй громад Сан До, Укран та Бандур. Галина займа особливе мсце в стор Укрансько Капел Бандуриств. Вона доклалася до органзацйно роботи пд час одного з найделкатнших перодв стор ансамблю допомогла у перепровадженн ансамблю з пслявонних нмецьких таборв до Детройту. Завдяки контактам Галини та наполегливост, УКБ знову стала займатися концертною дяльнстю скоро псля свого осдання у Сполучених Штатах. Тльки одним з прикладв впливу та присвяти Капел продовж десятилть випадкова зустрч з австралйським мпресаро, котрий органзував там гастрол УКБ. У 2007 роц, пд час гастролей Капел пд назвою Бандура - душа Украни, Галина придналася до подорожей ансамблю була присутньою на декотрих концертах, пд час яких тепершн члени колективу мали нагоду познайомитися посплкуватися з нею, та дзнатися про надзвичайно важлив внески до мс УКБ. Це були стор вдчайдушно наполегливост, а також стор з гумористичними моментами. Розповд та поради Галини завжди сприймалися з великою пошаною, енергя надихала усх. На свтлин зображен тепершн дириент УКБ Олег Махлай та президент ансамблю Анатолй Мурга, Котрий вдвдали Галину в Сан-До у 2018 роц. Наша капелянська родина висловлю сво найщирш спвчуття рдним та близьким. Вчная пам'ять!
