PROPOSITION 15 UPDATE: This last summer, the California Supreme Court ruled that the counties are within their rights to exclude certain forms of bonus pay and overtime when determining the future pension calculations of current employees. It was a tweak to the "California Rule" long viewed as untouchable by pension rights activists. This is relevant now as we await the outcome of Proposition 15 next week in CA. Though not part of the "Yes" campaign narrative for political re...asons, Prop 15 is desperately wanted by public employee unions to help fund the multi-billion-dollar pension and retiree health care unfunded actuarial liability (UAL). Assembly Republican Leader Marie Waldron announced today she has named Assemblyman Frank Bigelow Assembly Republican Caucus Chair. Together, they will focus on raising money to get Republicans elected to the California State Assembly. The office of Assemblymember Blanca Rubio reports that she has been named the Convener of the informal caucus of moderate Democrat Assemblymembers also known as the New Democrats. Rubio succeeds Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula in the position.
