In 2020, the Doctor-Patient communication in dentistry is no longer the same as it was years ago. With the presence of the internet and the way technology has developed it is now our duty as health professionals to do more than just tell a patient what they need. Patients in our chairs are more educated than ever and they deserve to fully understand: 1) their current oral condition, 2) what we see in our exam, 3) what can happen if we do...n’t do anything about it, 4) the benefits of doing something. This system is called co-diagnosis. Patients that are involved in their diagnosis will be more likely to not only accept treatment, but to have complete faith and trust in the treatment presented, because they understand.
