Yoga Breathing is a safe and fast way to relieve stress, boost digestion, balance your energy, and improve sleep. Unlike meditation that can be frustrating and slow to learn, yoga breathing is very accessible, and you’ll feel results right from our first session. No experience of any kind is needed. I take a very simple, science-based approach that is effective for everyone. Next month, I’m taking on 3 new private clients and I’m offering you a free Discovery Session if you... think this might help with your current health challenges. The Discovery Session is just 20-minutes, and we will meet via video call. I’ll share with you the basic principle of the practice, we’ll do some foundation exercises together, and we’ll see how you feel. Interested to learn more? No cost or obligation, just book at time with me by emailing: [email protected] See more

Over the past several months we have had the opportunity to assess and respond to the new reality of owning a business during a pandemic. What began as a challenge became an extraordinary opportunity in many ways. As we navigated these changes the world shifted once again. We realize we have been somewhat quite during this process as we adapt to the ever changing environment around us...let us start by saying we miss you all and are anxious to connect with you as soon as possible. We feel however the time for silence is over surrounding issues of social justice and equality. Santa Rosa Therapeutic Bodyworks fully supports BLACK LIVES MATTER...we stand with you, we see you and support you

***LATERAL SHOULDER RELEASE*** . . One of the most common things I see at the office is clients complaining of pain in between the shoulder blades. One of the most important things to remember about the body is that a lot of the time, where you are feeling pain isn’t necessarily the area that needs to be released. .... . Here’s a great way to get into the lateral side of the shoulder blade where there are a bunch of muscles attaching onto/under/around. I’m always so surprised at what I find in this area! . . Give this a try and let us know how it goes! . . #srtbodyworks #massage #santarosa #sonomacounty #alphaball #selfcare #lateralshoulder #shoulderpain #neckpain #movement #mobility #loveyourself #stuckathome See more

***WORKING ON TIGHT HIPS AT HOME*** . . Here are a few different techniques that I use for working on the various muscles in the hip. I like using a ball because it enables me to get into a lot of different areas pretty easily and I find the direct pressure really pinpoints the areas of tension I’m trying to release. Here’s a few tips from the video: - Assess different areas by slowly moving the ball back and forth across the area you are on. This will allow you to feel where... the tightest spots are (often the smallest adjustment or shift can make all the difference, so explore before picking a spot to hang out on) - Crossing the leg of the hip you’re working on over your other leg can help open up the back of your hip and can allow you to access areas that are harder to get to - If you want to get into the deeper hip muscles (like piriformis or other hip rotators located underneath the thick layers of your glutes), I find that straightening the leg and laying back will slacken the thick tissue of your glute and make it much easier to go deeper into the hip - As always, when you find an area of tension, try to position yourself right on top of it and stay there for up to 2 minutes or more to allow your body to relax and for the intensity to fade away . . Working on the hips is probably the area I get the most questions about in terms of technique, so hopefully this video is helpful! . . #srtbodyworks #santarosa #hippain #lowbackpain #sittingisthenewsmoking #massage #bodywork #sonomacounty #selfcare #movement #stuckathome #mobility #letsmakethebestofit #loveyourself See more

***SCAPULAR MOBILITY*** . . When looking to gain strength, stability, and ultimately mobility in the shoulders, people often overlook movements specific to the shoulder blades and tend to focus just on what we consider to be the shoulder joint or glenohumeral joint. .... . Here is a great active mobility exercise to gain awareness on how well (or not well) you are able to control your shoulder blades. I start with what are known as Scapular Pushups, which is when you use the muscles that attach to your shoulder blades to essentially push and pull you away from your hands (while keeping your elbows fully locked and arms straight). This is known as protraction and retraction. . . I then start adding elevation (shrugging your shoulders up) and depression (pulling your shoulder blades down) to create a circular motion with my body. Here’s some important tips when trying this: - Keep arms straight and elbows locked at all times. The movement should be only coming from your shoulder blades. - Actively use your shoulder blades to create the motion, try not to passively sink into positions. You should feel a lot of activity from this! - Pay attention to your body, especially with the movements that are most challenging. Chances are you will find a lot of other areas trying to help out when they shouldn’t have to. These are great clues when trying to figure out other areas to work on to improve your overall functionality. . . Give this a try and let us know how it goes! . . #srtbodyworks #santarosa #scapularmobility #sonomacounty #massage #bodywork #selfcare #training #movement #stuckathome #letsmakethebestofit #loveyourself See more

***COUCH STRETCH*** . . This is a great one for those suffering from low back pain, hip pain, knee pain, or people that spend a lot of time in a seated position. .... . Some helpful tips to remember: - Put a pillow down for the knee that’s on the ground - Use your GLUTES to drive this stretch, not the angle of your upper body. The more you squeeze your butt and tuck your pelvis back (posterior tilt), the more you will feel this stretch - be sure to maintain a neutral spine and keep the foot that’s on the ground directly under your knee - Hold this stretch for 2 minutes or longer for best results . .
