Each Year, SPH&TS holds a convention to discuss our favorite railroad, Southern Pacific. Our conventions are three-day events held in a large city served by SP, and attended by at least 175 registrants. As part of the convention, we hold our member's meeting. Unfortunately, we had to cancel this year's event scheduled for Reno, Nevada. However, we will be holding an online convention on Saturday October 24, 2020. We will have four video presentations, and our member's meeting. We invite you to register at the link below. Registrations must be received by Thursday October 22, 2020. Southern Pacific was famous for it's passenger trains along the Coast, Golden State, Overland, Shasta, and Sunset routes. If you are interested in the years 1946 and 1954, you need a copy of the Circular 14. This company document listed the types of equipment used on the various trains on the various routes. The SPHTS is proud to announce our latest book is now available for pre-order! If you have not heard the news, noted railroad author John Signor has a new book coming out soon, titled "Southern Pacific Los Angles Division." Published by the Southern Pacific Historical & Technical Society, this book covers the vast history of the Los Angles Division from the Los Angeles & San Pedro Railroad (1869), the long history of the Southern Pacific and up until the merger with the Unio...n Pacific in 1996. The new book is currently at the printers and will be shipping in a couple of weeks, so if you are a fan of Mr. Signor's previous works, this will be another great addition to your library. The book is over 580 pages, with 1000+ photos to illustrate it and features several of John's wonderfully drawn maps. A detailed description is available on the website.
