My Kind of New Years KISS.... To continue my theme of simplicity I would like to (re)introduce you to the one of my favorite acronyms... KEEP IT ... SIMPLE SILLY (keeping it professional here) Health and Wellness can be incredibly overwhelming... from trying to get rid of back pain, to losing a couple of pounds and keeping them off... there are hundreds of different opinions and paths to take in this industry and to be honest multiple of them might work for you! BUT none of them will work for you if you don't KISS and change one or two things at a time and stick with these changes.... For example... Did you know we only need 150 minutes a week of moderate intensity exercise to decrease your chances at getting heart disease?? This equates to about 20minutes of walking your dog 7 days a week at perceived exertion of a 4-5 (so starting to get your heart rate up, but still able to have a conversation)...Doesn't that seem simple or at least a little more attainable than joining the gym, deciding your going to wake up at 5am every morning for 5 days a week and force yourself on the elliptical for 45minutes?? (don't do that math, I'm just trying to make a point lol) The FITNESS industry makes us think that we have to be FIT in order to be HEALTHY and these are two different things... I will go into detail about this later, but again KISS THIS NEW YEAR and don't get discouraged!! Long term health is more attainable than you might believe. Also, if you want to do your own math of what you need to stay healthy and don't want to do the programming, you should check out my 6-week program. 2 days of the week I give walking homework to help you achieve your heart healthy goals along side some rehab exercises to help you strengthen at the same time... It's pretty cool and a great way to KEEP THINGS SIMPLE....

Have a LOVE HATE relationship with New Years resolutions? I used to too! How about starting 1 goal instead of 20? I used to get incredibly excited about each new year that rolled around... it was kind of like getting one giant Monday to restart and take "permanent" steps towards the life that I wanted! So like the naive optimist I was, I would have the best intentions and write down a HUGE LIST OF GOALS and changes I wanted to make in the new year... Sound Familiar? Did I ev...er stick to any of them? NOPE... I OVERWHELMED MYSELF with goals and instead of taking steps forward I stumbled backwards into guilt (like not letting myself enjoy this super yummy hot coco in nature) and self loathing for not accomplishing what I set out to do. How do I approach the new year now?... I set ONE INTENTION OR GOAL. For example, this year my goal is to take 5 deep diaphragmatic breaths before I begin eating (find out what that is in my welcome video for my 6 week program), so I can start to down regulate my nervous system and hopefully eat slowly, have better digestion, and ENJOY my food. The mindset that less is sometimes more.... When I design my programs, like my 6 Week Full Body Program (https://clopezmassage.square.site//45min-everyday-full/11 ) I keep this intention in mind because I want to set you up for success and not put you in a place where you are overwhelmed. Remember that big changes take time and that is OK! Don't expect the world from yourself and get upset if you fall short. Appreciate and love your intrinsic motivation and take your goals slow and your rate of success will sky rocket! CHEERS to a SLOW NEW YEAR!

I had a thought this morning I don’t like to call my programs "workouts" At least not all of them. Because the point isn’t just to "workout" and get tired, or expend all your energy.... The point is to train. To train yourself to move and feel better. Lots of people use the words "train" or "training" or "personal trainer" in the context of fitness. But so few of us really think about what that means To "train" something isn’t just to use it and tire it outlike the workouts most "personal trainers" do for their clients. The point of training somethingyour body, your muscles, your movementis to use it and improve it. The goal of training should be to teach your body to move and feel better. That’s how you avoid injury while working outor even in just doing things in everyday life. How many of us have nagging injuries from stuff that happened outside of the gym? Well...the way to deal with them is to train your body to move in a way that’s healthy. Anyway, I just wanted to share this insight. I hope you use it to move better in your workouts and beyond. I should mention...if you want to train your body to move, breathe, and feel amazing...I have this at-home workout program you should check out. Each day you get a workout from me that corrects your bad movement patterns and teaches you the right ones. In just 6 weeks you’ll feel and move completely differentlyfor the better.

Cardio burns fat...right? Well...kinda... In my opinion, you need to use the right type of cardio.... Clients who bought my new 6-week Home Workout program get their cardio days 2x a week by WALKING... This inspired me to share with you my favorite form of Cardio for Fat-Loss... There are three things to consider when it comes to fat-loss cardio: 1 How challenging is the workout? 2 What’s the risk of injury? 3 What energy source will your body use? If a workout is too difficult...you’re far less likely to do it, let alone enjoy it. If a workout has a high risk of injury...that’s obviously a problem. If you’re injured, you can’t workout at all. And lastly, different forms of cardio will utilize different energy stores in your bodystored fat, muscle glycogen, blood glucose, etc. Here’s the main thing to keep in mind when it comes to fat-loss cardio: You want to ease the fat off. If you’re in a state of stress, you’re far more likely to retain fat. That, in my opinion, is why so many people struggle to lose fat with tons of plain old jogging. It’s hard to do. It’s painful on your joints. And it’s stressful on your body...which means it may not even utilize your fat stores. In my experience the best form of cardio for burning fat is: Walking! No, you won’t burn as many calories in a 30-minute walk as you will in a 30-minute run But in my experience, more of those calories will be from fat. I think the secret here is that walking is low-stress and low-impact...so your body eases the fat off, instead of being stressed out and hanging on to the fat. Aim for an intensity level of ~6 out of 10. You should be able to maintain a conversation during the workout. But still feel that you’re pushing yourself. If you have a treadmill...try increasing the incline rather than increasing the speed. If you’re new to cardio...start with just 10-20 minutes per day. That’s plenty! Let me know if this helped you! To your health, Candice PS: If you want a full program with daily activity that incorporates fat-loss cardio with pain-free strength and mobility Check out my 6-week workout program. I’m really proud of it! Plus the cost comes to like $2.31 per day...so it’s super affordable. >>>Click here to get the program>>> https://clopezmassage.square.site//45min-everyday-full/11

One of the most powerful tools I teach in my practice and in my online program. What is a pressure breath? A pressure breath is keeping Intra-abdominal Pressure in your belly while you inhale AND exhale. Pressure breath is the nickname we use because Intra-abdominal Pressure is too long lol. The greater we can descend our diaphragm, the more IAP we can create. By keeping IAP you are allowing your abdominal wall to kick on into concentric contraction (why your belly gets kin...d of hard on the exhale) and eccentric contraction on your inhale. We believe that by keeping IAP, this allows for the greatest spine stability becausewe get the optimal amount of stabilization in our trunk this way. Our goal is for your body to remember this IAP and keep a regulatedIAP 24/7, which is the-coactivation between diaphragm, pelvic floor and whole muscles of the abdominal wall. "Core stability is not defined by strength of abdominals or back muscles (or any others) but results from optimal intra-abdominal pressure regulation." This is based of off developmental kinesiology and work by Dr. Pavel Kolar who has created the Dynamic Neuromuscular Training system my entire program is based on. #fixthebreathfixttherest See more

Ever notice how infants don’t have back pain? If you look at the way young children move They move really well.... It’s effortless. It’s beautiful. It’s almost like movement poetry. Ok yes I’m a bit of an exercise nerd But the point is that humans move pain-free at an early age. And the weird thing is No one really teaches us how to do it. We don’t need trainers or physical therapists to show us how to walk, run, jump, squat, or lift things over our heads...when we’re children. We just learn on our own. But then something happens as we get older We start sitting too much Driving too much Wearing shoes that crush our feet We get stressed and stop breathing properly. And then suddenly We have pain. We get injured. And we’re always tired. So what causes this to happen? A physical therapist in the Czech Republic named Pavel Kolar provides an answer Dr. Kolar specialized in pediatric kinesiologychild movement. He studied how children move in the first first few years of life and he discovered something There is a specific sequence of muscle activation in healthy human movement. As children, we naturally develop this of course. But as we age...our bodies get de-conditioned and trained to move wrong. We develop bad habits. And bad motor patterns. And that’s why so many of us are in pain. That’s how I used to beI had multiple surgeries before I was old enough to buy a drink. But then I learned about Dr. Kolar’s Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization protocol (DNS). DNS re-introduces the proper sequencing of movements that we had when we were kids. It allows us to move like we did when we were childrenwhich is to say: It allows us to move CORRECTLY. I’ve made this the foundation of my training and the training I provide my clients. And I see the remarkable results it produces everyday. In short: If you’re not using DNS, you’re just adding muscle to an unstable body. Eventually, you’re likely to get injured. If you want a simple solution that will allow you to workout using DNS...while building strength and getting in shape I created a 6-week At-Home Guided Workout Program that does just that! It combines DNS-style training with strength workouts, low-impact cardio, and mobility. This is a Daily Trainer program. I will send you an email DAILY with your EXACT workout for that day, including videos that explain how to perform each exercise correctly. In other words: I took all the thinking out of it for you. All you have to do is show up and see results :) Workouts will be 45 minutes or less. And the cost for the program is just $97that’s $2.31 per day! (DNS training can get kinda expensive. Trust me, I’ve taken multiple certifications in it. So this is a really affordable workout program I’m offering.) Do you remember that kid in school who was always injured?? They always came to class or practice with a new bandage or brace! Diagastric is a commonly over looked muscle in the neck that can contribute to jaw pain, TMJ, and I’ve even had a client with numb bottom teeth when this muscle had an adhesion with a nerve near by. The body is wild

KT Tape and Rock Tape is an easy, yet effective tool for aiding in pain relief! It gives the body neurological feed back and incenses circulation. I like to use it for acute injury’s and in aiding in fixing motor patterns on muscles that are chronically short. #art #activereleasetechnique #sportsmassage #sportsmassagefresno #sportsmassageclovis #sportsmassagetherapy #sportstherapy #sportstherapyfresno #sportstherapyclovis #sciatica #nervepain #carpaltunnel #headaches #painmanagement #painfreeliving #healthandwellness #fitness #personaltrainingfresno #personaltrainingclovis #strengthtrainingforwomen #womenshealth #birthfit #dns #birthfitfresno #postpartumfitness #prenatalfitness #caraptunnel #cuppingtherapy #cupping

Prenatal health and wellness is one of my passions. I got pregnant with my daughter at end of my junior year in college, which meant that I began my last semester at Fresno State in my 2nd trimester and was beginning 3rd trimester during finals. I took 19 units to quickly finish, but this meant I was on campus and sitting for many hours. As far as what we see in media and our American perspective of pregnancy, I should have been tired all the time and at ease sitting around. ...This was completely OPPOSITE of how I felt as a full time student and part-time commuting massage therapist. I felt the best walking across campus between classes, taking the stairs, and having a career that allowed me to be moving all day. But this was also a true statement before pregnancy and after. Our bodies feel best WITH movement, not being sedentary. I was blown away at modern pregnancy culture and how different my personal experience was. The research about exercise and movement during pregnancy is CRITICAL and empowering. This is why I became a BIRTHFIT coach, to be an advocate for pregnant and postpartum women as they continue to mindfully move their bodies while going on this journey of motherhood. See more

One of the many analogies I make with my clients is the idea that our bodies are a Movement Bank. You have to put good movement in, before you take movement out. Let’s take car rides for example. Long car rides usually kill my lower back and knee (yes I know there are cushions and a millions things that can help this), but the more good movement I do throughout the week the less my knee hurts in the car. I cash in good movement with doing rehab exercises, walking, and pretty much anything mindful, and cash out for things that are usually challenging for me or cause me pain. This helps me decrease the frustration with my body. I can’t be mad and frustrated with pain if all I have done is taken out loans in my movement bank. We have to SAVE BEFORE WE CAN SPEND. #sportstherapyfresno #activereleasetechnique #personaltrainingfresno

The area that is painful isn’t always the area that is causing you pain. Sometimes it is referred pain. My job is to run through protocols and tests to narrow down what your greatest dysfunction/adhesion/entrapment site is. I then treat that area with manual therapy (usually ART) then give you some homework exercises to STABILIZE you. Sometimes it can take a couple of sessions, but my goal is to teach you enough about your body so you can help yourself in the long run #art#...activereleasetechnique#sportsmassage#sportsmassagefresno#sportsmassageclovis#sportsmassagetherapy#sportstherapy#sportstherapyfresno#sportstherapyclovis#sciatica#nervepain#carpaltunnel#headaches#painmanagement#painfreeliving#healthandwellness#fitness#personaltrainingfresno#personaltrainingclovis#strengthtrainingforwomen#womenshealth#birthfit#dns#birthfitfresno#postpartumfitness#prenatalfitness#caraptunnel#cuppingtherapy#cupping See more

Cupping therapy is a great way to increase circulation and blood flow in the body without tissue compression. I love to use them as my extra set of hands while I work on other parts of the body, to give my clients a greater amount of care during their session. Cupping is wonderful and releasing fascial tension and superficial nerves. #art#activereleasetechnique#sportsmassage#sportsmassagefresno#sportsmassageclovis#sportsmassagetherapy#sportstherapy#sportstherapyfresno#sportstherapyclovis#sciatica#nervepain#carpaltunnel#headaches#painmanagement#painfreeliving#healthandwellness#fitness#personaltrainingfresno#personaltrainingclovis#strengthtrainingforwomen#womenshealth#birthfit#dns#birthfitfresno#postpartumfitness#prenatalfitness#caraptunnel#cuppingtherapy#cupping

Pronator Teres.....Have you had any carpal tunnel like symptoms after working at your desk, driving, and (or) being in your phone for extended periods of time? Sometimes it feels like there is little to no strength in your hand and restriction to blood flow. Pronator teres could be entrapping your median nerve and giving you those issues. Sometimes it’s not your wrist, but tissue that is closer to your elbow! #art#activereleasetechnique#sportsmassage#sportsmassagefresno#sportsmassageclovis#sportsmassagetherapy#sportstherapy#sportstherapyfresno#sportstherapyclovis#sciatica#nervepain#carpaltunnel#headaches#painmanagement#painfreeliving#healthandwellness#fitness#personaltrainingfresno#personaltrainingclovis#strengthtrainingforwomen#womenshealth#birthfit#dns#birthfitfresno#postpartumfitness#prenatalfitness#caraptunnel

Active Release Technique (ART). It’s most likely the modality I will use on my clients who come in with pain and (or) a specific injury. ART is a soft tissue technique created over 30 years ago by Dr. Leahy DC who studied engineering in the Air Force then applied that knowledge to his work once he became a Chiropractor. It consists of a vast knowledge of anatomy and tissue texture awareness, that each provider is tested on every year so they can stay a certified provider. We... treat muscle, tendon, ligament, fascia, and nerve injuries with ART. Common conditions ART can help with are headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, back pain, sciatica, plantar fascia syndrome, and more! #art#activereleasetechnique#sportsmassage#sportsmassagefresno#sportsmassageclovis#sportsmassagetherapy#sportstherapy#sportstherapyfresno#sportstherapyclovis#sciatica#nervepain#carpaltunnel#headaches#painmanagement#painfreeliving#healthandwellness#fitness#personaltrainingfresno#personaltrainingclovis#strengthtrainingforwomen#womenshealth#birthfit#dns#birthfitfresno#postpartumfitness#prenatalfitness See more

I see devastation, but I also see SO MUCH LOVE pouring out into our community! It gives me an incredible amount of pride to be working in Fresno County and to see the huge amount of support being given to our victims from the Creek Fire. Now until the end of September, I will be giving my clients a $10 credit for their next session if they bring in a minimum of a $20 gift card that will be donated to one of the many organizations helping our local families who have been displaced from this fire. Many of these organizations, such as the Red Cross and various churches in Clovis, have specifically asked for gift cards from Wall-Mart, Gas Stations, Grocery Stores, and Visa cards, but we are grateful for any you may offer.
