California Department of Fish and Wildlife has temporarily suspended the "4-hour in-class" portion of hunter safety education. This means new hunters can acquire their Hunter Safety Card as well as their Hunting License by completion of the online course. New hunters can then apply for their hunting license in time for the 2020-2021 big game drawing! Note Big Game application deadline is June 2nd. For more information:

Great news for hunter education students! While in-person hunter ed courses have been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19, you can complete your course requir...ements entirely online. Successful prospective hunters who complete and pass the online course will be able to immediately print a paper Hunter Education Completion Certificate, which will qualify them to purchase a hunting license.
