Jeremy Doss has had his fill of emotions this weekend at 5 Flags Speedway, on Snowball Derby Weekend. Thursday's practice sessions were frustrating, as the team was 46th, 45th and 42nd in a field of 54. Friday, the team's one practice session didn't go any better, with a 43rd place effort. Duane Sharp and the JD Motorsports team were worried, to say the least, about qualifying into the "Derby", as only the top-30 would avoid the Last Chane Qualifying race on Saturday. With th...e odds seemingly against the small team, the 2018 Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series Champion stepped up to the plate, and hit it out of the park in Friday night's Qualifying Session. Doss turned his best lap of the weekend, by nearly half a second, locking himself into the field with a time of 16.392 seconds. It was a time good enough to put him on the inside of row four, in the seventh position. Entering Saturday's lone practice session on a high, the team spent their time looking for race speed. At the end of the hour long session, however, the team found itself in the 50th position, certainly not where they would like to be. But the 2020 Spears Modified Series Championship Leader has been in this position before, and believes in his car and his team. With 300 laps on the docket, they will have plenty of time to make adjustments and adapt to the track. "I feel like we have a good race car", Doss explained. "It's a long race and a lot can happen. We just have to keep up with the track all day and make the right adjustments." The two-time LVMS Bullring and Dirt Track Fall Open Comp winner will be looking to improve upon his best finish of 11th, of his three career "Derby" starts. The 53rd Annual Snowball Derby is set to go at 11:05 AM PST, today. Keep track of the action at Speed51.com. PC: Michele Martin

Unofficially Derek Thorn comes home fourth in the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 from Five Flags Speedway. Thorn led until late in the race, when he faded after battling with Stephen Nasse and Bubba Pollard for the lead. Contact to Bubba Pollard from Stephen Nasse resulted in Pollard spinning on the last lap and Naase penalized to the last car on the lead lap. Justin Johnson was moved to the #1 position pending tech.
