Late September brings us Michaelmas season! This means that the children hear stories about brave knights who overpower the dragon with swords of light, or children who gather their courage to encounter what is difficult and overcome fear to help others or the earth. These stories and verses give the children the message that they are able to face life’s challenges, that they can choose to act with courage, imbue all they do with care, and call on their own inner power or wil...l to persevere. As we reflect on the meaning of Michaelmas this year, we see an ever-pressing need to face today’s challenges with strong hearts and minds. Each of us has a gift to bring to the world. We seek to recognize and appreciate each other’s gifts, and encourage one other toward our full potential. Michaelmas reminds us that as the sunlight decreases, we can shine our inner light and courageously do what is right, even if it is hard. This year, since we are unable to gather and share in the spirit together, we hope to inspire you to shine your inner light and to share your gifts with others in your own way. Of course we are waiting for the day we can all go back to school, but in the meantime we do the best that we can with what we have! Our teachers are going one step beyond every day to connect with their students and provide a sweet and authentic relationship filled with care and attention! We are so pleased with our distance learning experience at Sparrow with Mrs. Swaim! She is very organized and attentive to detail. She has a calm, sweet demeanor with the children and is ...so patient through all of the Zoom difficulties. Kamila also enjoys Games and Spanish. It's been such a pleasure to watch her participate. Although we all can't wait until the pandemic is over and we can resume in person without fear, I've truly been blown away with how well it's going.
