COVID 19 made us realize all over again that communication is a basic human right. COVID slowed us down, put time and space between us - yet we have now restored our lifelines of speech, song, and social connection. We're going to get through this with hope and positivity - and that is SPARC's Aphasia Awareness month promise to you. Shout out to the El Camino Hospital and Healthcare District for funding our work, to the Lurie College of Education, and the Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences for their steady support. It takes a village to sustain our beautiful community. In gratitude!
Aphasia did not stop our amazing SPARC members from brave conversations about the recent racial violence that has torn apart our country. You inspire us daily and give new meaning to our legacy at San Jose State University where we will never stop raising a voice for inequity and injustice. Power to you, always!
June is Aphasia Awareness month and dedicated with power to our amazingly strong, resilient and engaged SPARC members. Aphasia may steal our members' words but never their voices!
Wishing our Spartan Aphasia Research Clinic (SPARC) members a happy, healthy, and lucky 2020 ahead! Greetings dear SPARC family of clients, clinicians, and supporters - we are in Taiwan at #IALP2019, an international conference in speech pathology where 44 countries are represented. In humility, we will be telling the story of SPARC and what we have created together. Just a reminder - SPARC resumes on Friday, September 6th!
The Spartan Aphasia Research Clinic (SPARC) has officially completed 2 years! We keep growing and are very grateful for SPARC's clinical research funding from the El Camino Hospital, and the Gary and Mary West Foundation. Thank you to all our clients, families, and clinicians for a fantastic year. Taking a short break, SPARC will resume on Friday September 6th at 9:30 am. See you there!
Let’s make conversations inclusive of people with aphasia!
