Dear Space Station Community, A lot has transpired since we at Space Station have seen you. We hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. This pandemic has caused a great deal of loss, personally and professionally, for most of us. It is with the deepest sincerity that we say, we miss you. It is with a heavy heart that we write this letter today. While this global crisis has caused changes and difficulties in almost every industry, the entertainment industry h...as been hit exceptionally hard. As the situation unfolded we had endless discussions of what Space Station would look like moving forward. When/If we reopen how do we do so in a way that we feel confident in the safety of our clients, our staff, and the thousands of visitors that come in and out of our building on a monthly basis. The unfortunate reality that we've had to face is this crisis is not going away in the near-term. We believe it would be irresponsible to reopen as we would potentially be causing additional harm to our community. We discussed reopening at half-capacity, changing our business model, and many other options... but the reality is, Space Station has already taken on a substantial financial burden over the past 3 months, and the company can no longer afford to remain to open. After over 10 years of serving our community, Space Station Casting Studios is officially closing its doors for good. We will remember all of you fondly and we hope we gave you a space you could call home for a few hours a week. Please remember the laughs, the puppies, and the wonderfully talented actors that you brought into our building. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support over the years, it has been a true adventure. Stay safe, stay strong, stay healthy. Our community will endure and we'll see you on the other side. All the best, Sherrie Henderson, Ben Rovner, The Late and Great Dan Velez, and The Space Station Team

TELEVISION PILOT CLASS AT SPACE STATION CASTING STUDIOS Write your own original television pilot with the instruction and guidance of a pro! Tony Saltzman is a television writer/producer who’s worked on shows such as GOLIATH (Amazon), FEED THE BEAST (AMC) and NURSE JACKIE (Showtime). He’s applied all his experience in professional writers’ rooms, along with his years of acting and directing training, to create a writing class like no other.... This is a 12-Week class that will move students through all the essential concepts and tools for writing a television pilot by writing their own. It will help students navigate that sometimes daunting task by breaking it down, week-by-week and step-by-step, moving them through writing loglines, One Pages (pitches/synopses), Beat Sheets and Outlines, so that the story is carefully thought-out and honed before they start writing. And it will apply acting concepts to their writing work to create dynamic structures and scenes. Through developing students’ pilots all the way from initial idea to a completed script, the class will cover theme, structure, character, scene work, dialogue, description, world-building and meaning. We will work on visual storytelling, economy of language, emotional arcs, emotional logic, sustaining tension, and revealing truth. And we will apply acting concepts such as inner and outer life, moment-to-moment behavior, improvisation, and subtext to aid us in crafting our scenes. We will also simulate a professional television writers’ room practicing pitching our ideas to each other and learning the art of collaboration. Most of all, we will be inspired and learn techniques to translate that inspiration into writing that is compelling, entertaining, emotional and honest. Whether you are a writer looking to take your craft to the next level, an actor looking to create your own material, and/or an artist ready to tell your story, the best part of this class: Every student will complete their very own pilot! Classes will be held at SPACE STATION in Hollywood: 950 N Cahuenga Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038 Sundays 2-5pm. Sept. 23rd Dec. 9th TUITION: $595 For information on how to apply, email: [email protected] 2 Spots Left!
