We believe it is our role and responsibility to focus on the health and well-being of our players, staff and families while also supporting our local health officials and municipal leaders as they work to contain the coronavirus (COVID-19). We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we are faced with a unique circumstance that has made an impact far beyond the game of soccer. While we understand that each of you have your own feelings, ideals, personal and/or politi...cal beliefs regarding the current pandemic. Warranted or not, precautions must be given much consideration, as it only takes a single preventable incident to affect a member of our club and community. Enacting anything less than state and local health recommendations and mandates would be incredibly irresponsible for the oversight of our club and its membership. Though there may be a large difference of opinion and we may not like what is happening, not supporting and complying with the initiatives of US Soccer, US Club Soccer and NorCal Premier Soccer can simply destroy our mission as guardians of the game and of our athletes. In collaboration with our governing body NorCal Premier Soccer and the most recent guidance from the State of California is that all non-essential gatherings should be suspended. Following this recommendation, and for the health and safety of our membership and community, SVU is suspending all club activities, this includes training's, games and any SVU team functions that are scheduled for the period from Friday, March 13 through Tuesday, March 31, at which time the SVU Board of Directors will reassess the situation. The SVU Board of Directors wants to assure our membership and the community that this action is being taken as a preventative measure, based on information garnered from state and local experts. We will continue to share information throughout this time as they become available on the status of SVU operations. We are privileged to serve you, our community and look forward to seeing you all back on the pitch very soon!
