Id like to take a moment to be serious... Today my friend, and longtime neighbor who lived below me lost his life today. A 49 year old healthy man that was a vo...lunteer on the ambulance service here. He left behind a son. Yesterday another ambulance attendant 40 years old lost his life. Several Doctors here have already died and countless ones have died in china that have gone for the most part unreported. As a Dr of nearly 20 years this has been the most horrific thing I have witnessed in my career... I also served in the military for 10 years as a Flight Surgeon and have not seen the likes of what is happening on a daily bases in the Hospitals here.. Doctors and nurses here in Italy have been infected with the virus and are out of the fight. Healthcare workers are becoming in short supply to the fact the region is call for any Doctors to help if your licensed or not in Italy. I am not writing this to spread panic.. But this virus is far more contagious then what people are being told and the length of time on a surface is much more than reported. From what I have seen and the reports I have read here... this is just not some "droplet" thing and is contagious to the person that your merely talking to WITHOUT them coughing on you.. and further several people have tested positive for it here and show no symptoms and are in fact spreading this unknowingly. This virus has acutely caused several heart attacks in its victims as well. I suspect this is due to the acute hypoximia the virus causes and can come on VERY rapidly no matter what your age.. My friend was 49 and no health problems my friends. If you already have atherosclerosis its the killer. This virus causes all your inflammatory markers to go up including Troponin levels that are a marker of heart strain or MI. Electron microscopy shows no infiltration of the virus in to the myocardium thus far or cause a myocarditis. To the Drs and nurses in Italy here... you are heroes.. they selfishly risking there lives with this unknown virus, watching there colleagues die from this... they are risking there families health as well. Why go on about this ????? To my colleagues in the USA this virus is far more dangerous than your being told... Two of our fellow ER Doctors have died from this in the USA already. I still see people out going to bars and out and about acting like this is nothing... These are EXACTLY the people that will show up to our ER's demanding to be seen.... yelling at me I am gonna sue you if you dont do this.. point there guns at me and threaten me... The hospitals will be over run with cases.. At first it was the old here, and now its 40 year old dying.. MY FRIENDS IN THE USA GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER !!! your shopping hording is how the virus is spread... your still walking around like this is nothing... THIS IS A PANDEMIC the like you or your children will hopefully never see again.. Further to my medical colleagues ...anecdotally it seems that using Ibuprofen causes worse outcomes than the population using Tylenol... this appears here and in the data from China.. Again this is an anecdotal observation. Also be ready for your patients to develop acute myocardial insufficiency due to the quick onset of viral hypoximia in the lungs and develop a flash pulmonary edema.
