Happy birthday to the best physician out there, Dr. Mark Stern! From your humble beginnings, you have grown to become a role model and hero to your patients. You have touched the lives of so many people and are truly one of the most compassionate providers to serve in the medical field. With a breadth of knowledge and over 30 years of experience in neurosurgery, we could not have asked for a better physician and CEO of the Southern California Institute of Neurological Surgery! Happy birthday Dr. Stern!

Did you know that the smell of chocolate increases theta brain waves, which triggers relaxation! So don't feel too bad when you're having a chocolaty desert this season. Have a very safe and happy holiday, from all of us at SCINS!

The human brain has approximately 70,000 thoughts each day! One of those thoughts today here at SCINS is how blessed we are with the new addition of Dr. Jeswani. Dr. Jeswani is with us after completing his neurosurgery residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. After his undergrad at MIT and graduating in the top ten percent of his class at Wayne State University School of Medicine he now specializes in spinal tumors and has devoted his life to helping any patient he encounters.

Although Albert Einstein had the same size brain as a typical human, the location responsible for math and spatial perception was 35% wider than average. This was due to his constant use within that region. This shows how much power knowledge has that it can even shape the most complex part of a human being.

Within the cervical spine there is a vertebrae that is called the Atlas. The name Atlas refers to a Titan in Greek mythology, who was burdened with carrying the world on his shoulders...Although life can be challenging, happy people tend to trust the process and existence of everything in life (good and bad). Nothing is too big to handle, choose to embrace life and everything it has to offer!

Fun fact of the day: There are around 100,000 miles of blood vessels within the human brain! That's enough distance to go from California to New York over 35 times! Our very own Dr. Stern is from New York and not even he would want to make that trip 35 times!
