SBAC Members, We are happy to report that the range has been re-opened by the City of Rancho Palos Verdes. You may access the range if you have a current membership/key. The parking area is open. Please be aware that there are social distancing protocols in place. Please adhere to these or we risk the City shutting us down.... - Physical distancing of 6+ feet required for those not in your household - Face coverings required while near others - No groups or gatherings There will be signage posted at the gate and on the bulletin board area by the City. Please read that and adhere to any posted rules. At this time, we do not have hand-washing facilities. We are looking into that. In the meantime, it would be a good idea to bring hand sanitizer if you have that. Be aware that some lanes may be overgrown with brush. Please do not shoot in areas where there is not clear visibility. Some of our members did go down and do work already: Thanks to Gene, Joe M. Scotty and Charlie for working on clearing brush! If needed, we will try to arrange more work opportunities. As always, we are able to operate because the City allows us to use the open space. Please be courteous to park rangers or other officials if they come by and check on things. Normal club rules apply in addition to the City rules. At this time, there will be no JOAD classes until further notice. We also are not currently taking memberships. Also, please do not bring in guests who are not members of your household. We will advise when that situation changes. Please be safe. Please be respectful of others and of the range. Thank you, SBAC Board Members

According to information the city of RPV shared with the board, the range is open this weekend for archery. The trails accessing the beach are closed. Make sure the lock the gate behind you as you enter and leave the range. Please stay off any beach access trails. Please remember to be responsible and practice social distancing and wear a face covering when around people not in your household. ... Do not use the range for anything other than archery. Thanks. As the weather warms up, please be aware that snakes will be coming out. Members already have reported rattlesnakes spotted on the range. Please be cautious, especially in areas with high brush.

It's been several months and they've only been able to raise a fraction of the cost to rebuild. We have a beautiful range and should support our Valley archers. I know it's a tough time for all but any little bit helps.

Reminder: Do NOT shoot the 3-D Animal targets with broadheads. This is destroying the 3D targets.

Please, we must remind everyone who uses the range to follow the rules set forth by the City of RPV in regards to social distancing, masks, not gathering in groups, etc. If they see that rules are not being followed by people on the range, they can shut us down. We don't want a handful of people ruining things for everyone. Don't be that guy who gets us shut down!

The reason for no renewals or new memberships right now is that we can’t have gatherings or meetings. Usually we take renewals or memberships at the monthly meetings. Sometimes (very occasionally) at the monthly club shoot. Once we are able to do that again, we will let people know. If we come up with some other system for it, we will let people know. We will be trying to work that out as soon as we can.

An update from the city of RPV. Trails and open spaces (which include the range), remain closed until further notice. But it seems they are working toward a safe opening. When that happens, we will let our members know. In the meantime, stay safe and stay healthy!

Just a heads up that the range is still closed and will remain closed until we hear from the city of RPV. Per their order, trails and open spaces (which includes the range) are still closed. We understand everyone wants to get back to archery. And as soon as we know for sure that we can reopen, we will post that here and send an email. Thanks for continuing to be patient.

Range is Closed Out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with guidance from state and local health officials to slow the spread of COVID-19, the City of Rancho Palos Verdes has closed the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve, all City parks, beaches, community centers, amenities and trails until further notice. All park buildings, playgrounds, parking lots, restrooms, game courts, and fields are closed. All park programming has been canceled until further notice. This includ...es all recreational activities, indoor and outdoor sports leagues, instructional courses, and group sessions/private events. The closures are in accordance with a local emergency proclamation adopted by the City Council last week and come after City Staff and Park Rangers observed a high volume of visitors to City parks and the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve despite the Safer at Home Public Health Officer Order calling for social distancing. For a full list of closures, read a press release at: http://rpvca.gov/DocumentCent//Park-Closures-Press-Release
