Pu'uhonua o Pu'uhuluhulu Maunakea: "Mauna Kea: Sacred Mountain, Sacred Conduct is a film by Meleana Meyer and Tom Coffman that tells the mo'olelo of the peoople... coming together at Pu'uhonua o Pu'uhuluhulu to defend Maunakea. The film reflects upon our purpose and kuleana as the indigenous people of this land to protect the mauna. It reflects upon the spirit of lkahi that put everyone to work at the puuhonua and fostered a sense of comraderie and pilina that few had experienced at that level before. And finally, this film reflects upon our lineal relationship to Maunakea and the importance of heeding the call when this Mauna calls us to her. As we move into this anniversary week of action and begin on Sunday by spiritually grounding, we ask that as you watch this film, you consider contemplation and discussion with loved ones over the following questions: 1. How has the movement to protect Maunakea strengthened your connection to ina, akua and kanaka? 2. How did this show of courage, assertion of truth, sacrifice, unity, and strength impact your manao about self-determination and the future of the lhui? In reflection of the film and these questions, please share your manao throughout the week by posting photos or one minute video clips with the hashtag #maunamanao We mahalo Meleana and Tom for their vision and work. The production of this film also conveys an unprecendented sense of creative collectivity as the footage for the film was also generously contributed by filmmakers and videographers, 4 Miles LLC, Banzai Media, Renegade Media, and ‘Oiwi TV, Dawn Kaniaupio, Mikey Inoue, Tom Visser, David Kalama, Ruben Carillo, Jo Andrew, Na’alehu Anthony."
