Flashback pic of Sonshine Club @ Anza, January 16, 2020!!! How we miss the kids!!!
Twenty-eight families=80 Sonshine Club children received gifts, shoes, toys, outfits, jackets and more because YOU think about others and are generous with your resources of time and $$$. Shopping looked different this year...online shopping was used more than ever before, especially for those of us who were quarantined! It all came together and gifts were picked up/delivered to the families by December 23! Any gits not spoken for or that came after the 23rd will be used f...or Life Skills prizes or saved for Christmas 2021. What's next in 2021??? Re"zoom" Sonshine Clubs We have a few clubs gearing up to start Zoom Club in Jan-Feb 2021. We are also looking forward to a Farm Day this spring at OMA'S Family Farm in Lakeside. https://omasfamilyfarm.com/ If you want to partner with us by sponsoring one or more children, you can donate on our website www.sonshinehaven.org. $20 per child for a day on the farm. Won't this be a welcome change from all the at-home time!!! May God bless you See more

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Mari Rothman always demonstrated the love of Jesus by striving to meet any need possible for the Sonshine kids and families. She instilled into the ministry Thanksgiving Dinner in a Box! Her vision was for the families to have their own turkey simmering in their own ovens, filling their homes with that wonderful Thanksgiving Smell! AND then to have leftovers!!! We are continuing this tradition with gratitude to the donors who are sending $$$, groups that are collecting food items, and churches who are coming along side us. The need is greater than we have seen in a long time so all donations are going to be helpful.

Lots of things are different right now but kids are the same...they love personal attention, kindness, fun, learning about God, seeing people smile, & sharing their ideas. What an honor to spend 30-40 minutes a week with these kids! We hope many more join our Sonshine Zoom Clubs!
"Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." Isaiah 43:19
All 6 leaders/volunteers and 9 students joined our 1st Zoom Sonshine Club for the school where Mari started clubs!!! It was a great time of scavenger hunt, worship, short Bible lesson, prayer, chatting, singing the (Youtube) song again for the late-comers, and more chatting! The kids started off shy and then warmed up so by the end they didn't seem to want to "leave the meeting"! The kids were pros at using their headsets, microphones, and mute buttons! Impressive!
Another heart-warming collaboration...4 young ladies from SPRITES of East County stopped by Sonshine Haven with snacks for our Sonshine Kids/Office Baskets!!! Thanks so much!!!
Home Visits continue to be delightful and enlightening! Many families are living in fear which is transferred to the children. Imagine full-energy kids not being outdoors running and playing and expending that energy in productive ways. AND then expecting them to sit still for all their zoom schooling!!! It's a challenge and an opportunity for us to PRAY for our Sonshine Club families every day. Every time you walk by or drive by a school, pray for the kids, parents, teachers and admin.
This young lady was our club ambassador! Every time we had a new child join club, she would show them around (all on her own) and make them feel so welcome. We'd have her come up front and explain to the new clubbers what tickets and Awesome Student were all about and how to get them :) This gal is a natural leader with great communication skills...I'm thinking she'll make an excellent Sonshine Club leader one day!
What do you do when your find out that your clubber has a little sister who just started kindergarten???? Go back the next day with a backpack and Beanie Pal!!!
More fun visiting club kids! Well done, club leader Leslie Correa! Her clubbers were so pleased to see her and the parents were grateful that their Sonshine Club leader came to see their child! Each one mentioned that their child LOVES Sonshine Club and can't wait for it to start again..."with God, nothing is impossible!"
