Today is National Farmers Day, sometimes called "Old Farmers Day" or "National Thank a Farmers Day." Today, we are raising a glass of hard-won Sonoma County wine to the multi-generational family farmers who work hard each year to bring in the vintage and preserve agriculture in our beautiful county. As harvest continues, we are taking a moment to spotlight Edith Castro of Lynmar Estate, one of SCGGF's August winners of the Vineyard Employee Recognition Award. Edith is a Safety Leader, focused on keeping her team healthy, motivated, informed and safe during the harvest season and year-around. Happy #internationalgrenacheday! Grenache isn't one of the most widely planted red varieties in Sonoma County, but wineries make some fantastic wines from our approximately 150 planted acres! You can find Grenache in Dry Creek Valley, Russian River, Sonoma Valley and even on Sonoma Mountain. Some of our favorites are made by Unti Vineyards & Winery and Benovia Winery.
