Rainy days mean one thing: seeding the pastures!! Each year Sal enjoys sowing oats that will grow, and the horse teams will get to enjoy once it's nice and tall! We miss you, and hope to see you again downtown sometime.
We might not be working in town, but its still important to stay in shape! Here's Sal taking the team out for a few rounds!
Peeking into the new year! It was a very challenging year. But we are thankful we are still together at home! Thank you to all the friends that helped us out in many ways during the year. We could not have made it without you! We hope to see you again soon, and that everybody is staying healthy!
A message from Santa!!
Wishing everybody a safe and joyful Christmas and a happy New Year! We miss you
Thank you to Happy Endings Animal Sanctuary for the hay! We have been forced to stay off work for the next few weeks. We await for the day we can come back to Solvang. Thank you to CC and everybody at Happy Endings for helping us out during this difficult time. This is a wonderful organization that goes above and beyond to help animals in need in our area. Consider supporting them!
Trolley tour for you! Until we meet again, please take this virtual tour of Solvang! Thanks to Avoiding Regret for the shout out!
Honoring Sean Connery. He was a Solvang regular!
I’ll be joining other fellow candidates and giving out candy at the Solvang Vet’s hall this saturday from 3-4:30. Other groups or individuals that want to participate are welcome to join in!
Claire and stella bring so many smiles to town when they come to work. They were also very cheery to come back after a long absense!
HELP: THEY NEED YOUR VOTE TO BAN HORSE SLAUGHTER It's in our hands. https://www.horsesinourhands.org/take-action-save-our-hors/... Our beautiful American horses can't wait another year for Congress to pass the SAFE Act to ban horse slaughter. Help by sending an email to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi today. Every 8 minutes a healthy American horse is slaughtered in Canada or Mexico for human consumption.
We are so honored to have the chance to maintain this historical piece! On the left, you see Sal and master carpenter Alan Laugusen working on remodeling the honen!!
We won’t be operating today due to the heat wave. See you again when it cools off!!We won’t be operating today due to the heat wave. See you again when it cools off!!
Meet Merry. She is one of the many horses we have rescued. She came all the way to California from Amish Country. She used to work everyday farming the land. Now she enjoys semi retirement. Her favorite thing is grain! The yellow sticker on the marker was her kill pen number. She was sold by pound in a market where the only value given to her was the amount of meat on her body. We are proud to have saved her from a horrible fate along with others, and wish we could do more..
It’s not just a business, it’s heritage. It’s culture. It’s who we are. It’s a code of ethics. It’s respect for the land, respect for the animals, and respect... for our history. It’s knowing your word is your bond, a handshake seals your commitment. When you target our way of life, you target us as people.
We listen. We appreciate history and legacy. Having been granted a 5 year license, we are remodeling the Honen. This is a very costly and laborious project involving many hours of work and the expertise of a master carpenter. Now with PETA protesting the streets of Solvang, we are forced to not work. We can’t afford to take on projects like this while being on forced shut down due to harassment. The worst part is that we see the same culprits as usual: Councilmember Djernaes, not happy with his constituents not supporting his effort to shut us down and replace us with an out of town company, is now instigating PETA, who is not familiar with our history and endeavors of animal rescue and rehabilitation.
remembering our traditions. Here are pictures of Danish Days past. We look forward to many more to come!
We’ll be staying home until air quality improves.
We’re keeping the horses home due to the current air quality. Please visit our sponsors, who have kept us going during this challenging times: Birkholm’s Bakery, Chumash Casino, Designs in Gold, First St. Leather, Olsen’s Bakery, Solvang Knives ETC, Solvang Spice Merchant, Ultimate Escape Rooms
An apple away keeps the doctor away ... Not sure about that, but an apple is still quite a treat!
