Hey Sole Searchers! We’re doing Deadman’s Reef beach dive tomorrow Saturday Jan 16. Meet near the bench/stairs at 9:00. (Not the ramp). https://goo.gl/maps/LnfQrCG2wGFFb7Am9... As usual, we’ll check out the conditions, and decide to do the dive there, or change locations, or call the dive. Bring a lunch and we can eat on the beach after the dive like we’ve been doing.

We enjoyed participating in Dan Orr's presentation through Zoom Seekers this month. Now you can watch it again on Youtube, which is great, but there's nothing like being a part of it and ask questions while it's live. We will join Ken Kurtis and his Zoom Seekers again next month. See you then!

Hey Sole Searchers! Shaws Cove beach dive this Sunday. Meet at the top of the stairs at 9:00 am. We'll do the usual check out the condition, and then either choose another site, or if good, gear up and do the dive.

Morning dive at Leo Carrillo today. Seven of us opted to dive the area near lifeguard tower #2 since it was calm enough. Turned out to be a great dive.

Aliso Beach dive this morning. A bit surgery today, but lots of marine life. We even found a couple of large abalone.

I know we all have coats that we don’t use or need anymore. Let’s drop it off at Hollywood Divers, and Neighboring light can distribute them to people in need.

Yay for Max Dennert! This weekend marks his 25th dive since getting certified a year ago. I know, some of you might have 26 or even more but two a month is pretty good considering the year it's been. Some statistics, since you are bored reading this. Coldest dive 55.4 degrees at 65ft while visiting Deadman's Reef. Longest dive 64 minutes with a max depth at 50ft visiting Shaw's Cove. His brother is not far behind. Get out and dive!

This will make you think. Found what Gareth Lock focus on to be on point, and yet not many, if any, recreational dive training has emphasised this concept. Most divers/dive leaders can benefit greatly by taking the human factor in diving, to heart. "Most accidents and incidents are not down to undetected technical failures, poor buoyancy or incorrect trim, rather they are down to complacency, breakdowns in communication, poor decision-making, a lack of situational awarenes...s or ineffective teamwork and/or leadership." http://www.thehumandiver.com/ Watch their documentary on a particular dive accident. https://www.thehumandiver.com/ifonly The book Under Pressure is a good place to start. It offers some 30 plus cases to underscore the human factors in dive accidents. https://www.thehumandiver.com/underpressure
