PG&E is looking at a significant wind event this Wednesday and Thursday that will likely result in a Public Safety Power Shutoff for many counties from Redding ...area south to the Bay area. El Dorado County has a HIGH PROBABILITY of a Public Safety Power Shutoff occurring Wednesday & Thursday. At this time PG&E estimates approximately 51,000 customers and 2,500 medical baseline customers being affected in El Dorado County. 21 PG&E Customer Resource Centers (CRC's) are planned to be set up. Eight out of twenty-one CRC's have been secured at this time. El Dorado County will have a CRC at the Fairgrounds in Placerville (100 Placerville Drive, Placerville). CRC's will be set up Tuesday and opening on Wednesday. PG&E CRC's will be open from 0600-1800 hours and provide charging stations, water, air conditioning, information, etc. They are not a shelter and not supported by the County of El Dorado. Winds are estimated to be 35-50 mph sustained / 55-65 mph gusts starting in the early morning hours of Wednesday. Another wave/phase of stronger winds coming in after that starting on the 9th at 1700 hours lasting to 1200 hours on the 10th. Winds will be 40-55 mph sustained / 60-70 mph gusts. Power could be turned off as early as Tuesday evening around Midnight going into Wednesday morning. Because of the widespread wind event and numerous counties being involved and probable PG&E infrastructure damage, they are looking at a possible 5 -day restoration process. PG&E will have approximately 700 employees and contractors to assist with the re-energization process. Approximate areas possibly affected at this time are the following; El Dorado Hills - North of US 50 and east of the Blvd including Lake Hills area and Town Center Cameron Park - North of US 50 Shingle Springs Rescue Pilot Hill Cool El Dorado / Diamond Springs Logtown Placerville Mt. Aukum Omo Ranch Somerset Fairplay Grizzly Flats Camino Pollock Pines US 50 Canyon - Pacific House to Twin Bridges Mosquito / Swansboro Coloma Lotus Garden Valley Greenwood Georgetown Areas not affected at this time include; EDH south / Latrobe Road Latrobe S.
