Project Linus, Solano County Chapter 16.11.2020

Wishing all our Blanketeers who have been a part of our Chapter a very Happy Anniversary. Our chapter was founded on November 1, 2008, 12 years ago today! Thank you to everyone who has supported us through the years and made it possible to comfort children in our communities. Here's to many, many more!

Project Linus, Solano County Chapter 02.11.2020

This has been a crazy year. Our chapter hasn't been able to hold one of our monthly meetings since March. Yet the need for blankets is still there; Blanketeers have been busy at home creating special blankets. Everytime the call went out, blankets were delivered from Blanketeers all over Solano County. Then the LNU Fire happened, right here in our own backyards. Families displaced, land and homes lost. Blanketeers were ready. As we've learned in our area, people step up to... help other people. Families took in other families making it difficult to use shelters to get blankets to children. Instead with the help of Blanketeer Sarah, we were able to have the community reach out to us - - let us know who the children were in need of a special Project Linus blanket of their own. By using Facebook groups throughout the area, as well as calling schools in Vacaville, we were able to get blankets directly to the kiddos in need of a little comfort. Just last week blankets were delivered to 5 more children displaced by the August fires. Due to the generous nature of our enthusiastic Blanketeers, I am able to share that 110 children personally received their own special blankets. In notes, parents thank us for the comfort their child felt from their blanket. "They were having nightmares, but last night they slept". And this is why we do what we do... making a difference, one blanket at a time. Because it brings comfort to us all.

Calling all Quilters! Its not too late to sign up for this year's quilting challenge. If the goal of 2,000 quilters is reached, they start giving away some really good prizes! Only 122 more to reach the goal. When signing up, please mention SOLANO COUNTY, CA CHAPTER so it becomes a fundraiser for our local chapter. Thank you!

Hi Everyone, The thing I love about our community is that we all pull together to help when faced with adversity. We have been reaching out to many Facebook groups, schools and community fundraisers, to help us find the kids in need of their own Project Linus blanket. So far we are delivering blankets to 57 children. If you know of a family affected by the fires, please scroll down to the form and complete it. Family friends are the ones letting us where blankets are needed. If they have already received them, we'll have them on the list, I'd rather have a duplicate than miss a child. Please take a few minutes to help us by filling out the info below, or share this on your own page. Thank you!

Spread the word -- so far we have 34 children on our list. Mack Olson Emma Green, Dilenna Harris , Marianna Iuliano Schiavone, Nancy Learned Wyant As we have learned from past fires, we cannot always locate the families and children who would benefit from a Project Linus Blanket. This time, we are trying something new. Thank you to Blanketeer Sarah for her help in organizing our efforts. .... Laura ... If you know a child in need of a Project Linus Blanket, please complete the google form in the post below. Info will be kept private, but it will help us organize and get blankets to as many children as possible. I will be asking for help with blankets, once I can get an idea of how many we are going to need. THANK YOU

Hello Blanketeers and Friends, Thank you! While our Chapter has not been able to hold our monthly meetings (since March!), that doesn't mean our Blanketeers have been idle. What I've discovered is that when you quarantine a Blanketeer, they just keep making blankets! During the month, I touch base with the 34 groups who get blankets. Last month, 8 groups were in need. So, with a little creative collection, a small group of socially distanced Blanketeers gathered at Connie's house to sort and get blankets ready for delivery. I am happy to share that we delivered 331 blankets in July. Thank you to all who have been creating blankets while at home, to those who have been donating fabric and yarn, and to Connie and John who opened their home to collect and store blankets. Making a difference.... one blanket at a time!
