Sonoma County Philharmonic 12.11.2020

Dear Sonoma County Philharmonic Family, It seems surreal that it has been five months since we last gathered together. During this time of year, I begin reaching out to all of you to share the exciting details of our upcoming season. But the COVID-19 pandemic has placed an intermission on our plans for our upcoming 22nd season. We have been closely following the local health department and CDC to navigate a path forward to return to our concert hall; but at this moment we are... still uncertain when we can be reunited. During this unprecedented time, we are hard at work exploring new ways to connect with you until we can be safely gathered together. When the shelter in place orders began, members of our board of directors quickly responded to help support professional Bay Area musicians who suddenly found themselves unemployed due to the pandemic. Our sister organization, Music in Place, was then created to provide these artists with tech training, equipment and production support in order to produce high-quality live stream concerts. To date, Music in Place has helped many musicians create amazing performances in order to gain financial support during this difficult period. To learn more about our sister organization Music in Place, please visit musicinplace.org. There are many wonderful performances to watch and brilliant musicians to support! Over the next several months, Sonoma County Philharmonic and Music in Place will collaborate to bring your community orchestra directly to you. We are working to create small chamber performances to stream live to you so that, by the end of summer we will be virtually reunited with you. Our hope is to be able to continue these virtual performances for you until it is safe to return to our concert hall. These performances will be available through our website and social media platforms and we will also be working closely with senior residences to make sure everyone will have access to these performances. We very much miss making music together and we very much miss performing for all of you. In the meantime, we hope that you and your families stay safe and healthy. We look forward to the time when we all can be reunited in the Jackson Theater. Until then please join us in our virtual concert hall and enjoy the power and beauty of music. Sincerely, Debra Scheuerman Executive Director

We are so proud of our sister organization Music in Place for the great work they are doing to provide aid to Bay Area musicians during this time. Join them this SATURDAY at 5pm for their virtual fundraiser and help them continue this important work! You don't want to miss it!
