Hello my Personal Service & Barbering Family I have a great idea that can keep you and your clients safe during a facial and shave service Here are the facts effective for today for LA County... No personal service business have been shut down. The order specifically states that personal services requiring the client to remove a mask or face covering (nose/mouth) is not allowed and the examples of services include facials and barber shaves. However, I had a meeting wi...th a few Industry Advisory Committee Members from the PBFC as well as legal council late last night. I came up with a solution that can serve the purpose to protect the client and the professional during these types of services. Here is what I came up with to follow the modification request from LA County Health Dept. Also, all professionals are required to wear a mask and shield when providing these types of services. The 1st photo is an example (shared by one of my tenants) is of a massage salon in Canada that is using a mini adhesive mask. The 2nd photo is an example of a Massage Envy salon in Virginia that created a mini mask with supplies available from Amazon. The 3rd example is a Thai Skin Spa that made a mini mask in addition to a protective plexiglass barrier. The 4th is an example of me cutting a standard disposable face mask and attaching it to the skin with surgical tape around the mouth. (I know it’s crude. Insert laugh...lol ) It is 100% breathable. Lash artists use latex-free, hypoallergenic surgical tape on the face regularly so clients are very familiar with it. Lastly, there is also a professional adhesive nose filter sold on Amazon that is 3 x's strong than our standard masks that cost cutting only $1.61 per pair. First Defense Nasal Screens - Multi-Size and Quantity Packs come with 7 sets in each pack. 1-Pack, come in sizes Small, Medium, and Large. You are not plugging the nose nor the mouth. You are shielding it with a breathable material/filter meant to protect the client and the professional. I have tried it on myself and I can talk and breath through it easily. Since steam is not allowed during a facial service anyway in LA County...
