For those who missed it, you can now watch here: https://bit.ly/3oypR1H the full webinar where our Executive Director, @Gautam Jagannath shared his expertise with technology solutions for legal aid organizations and joined a discussion with The Access Project, and the Legal Aid Society of San Bernardino on how to adopt best practices in order to maximize an organization’s efficiency and impact. Election Day is here! To the #Latinxcommunity: your potential voting power is extraordinary, but it will depend in large part on your turnout. Please remember you can be a critical piece against the racist views and the anti-immigrant agenda. #VOTE for a more #InclusiveSociety! Your vote is your voice.

SOCIAL JUSTICE COLLABORATIVE 23.10.2020

According to NBC News, about thirty-two million Latinx Americans are eligible to vote, and a Latinx person reaches voting age every thirty seconds, representing 12 percent of the total Latino voting population. If you are eligible to #vote, the Latino Community Foundation has a Latino voter guide https://bit.ly/2HR0Xdq for you to review. #Stepup and #makeithappen #2020Elections #TimetoVote

Dear partners, Street Level Health Project, OneJustice, Canal Alliance, East Bay Community Law Center, East Bay Sanctuary Covenant, Multicultural Institute, El Concilio, UC Berkeley, The Berkeley Group, Equal Justice Works, NCLR Events, Oasis Legal Services, Haven Women's Center of Stanislaus, California State University, Stanislaus, let's work together to wake up the sleeping giant! Latinxs are not invisible as this metaphor suggests, in this Presidential election, they will comprise the second-largest electoral group, outnumbering African-American voters for the first time, according to NBC News #TimetoVote #US2020Elections

But you can help ease the uncertainty if instead of trick this year you give a treat by donating to support the Latinx immigrant community here https://bit.ly/35M2J88 A national survey from SOMOS Community Care and Latino Decisions found that nearly two-thirds of Latinxs are worried that they won't be able to pay for basic expenses, it all could depend on the outcome of these #2020Elections #VOTE for a more #InclusiveSociety #TimetoVote #2020Elections

These past months have brought many challenges for our #mentalhealth, for SJC staff and clients: adapting to work over the phone and virtual meetings, with little contact with co-workers, whilst many #immigrants are still at risk and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has delayed their cases, putting their mental health more in danger. However, thanks to our great partners such as The Street Level Health Project, Ray of Light Trauma Recovery Center in Oakland, AACI...'s Center For Survivors Of Torture, and Bay Area Community Health, as well as our interns from the California State University, East Bay, and the Stanislaus State we are able to offer holistic services to our clients, taking care of their #legalstatus as well as their own health. Go here https://bit.ly/3nnGvkK to learn more about us and the work we share with our partners.

Today is a great day because we're having an Adjustment of Status Clinic with the help of pro bono volunteers from Fenwick & West LLP. Thank you for furthering our mission, our clients are so happy to receive your help.

We got Special Immigrant Juvenile Status #SIJS for our client! He came to the United States with a lot of fear, but also with a lot of hopes and dreams, for his family and to get ahead now he wants to get a work permit and go back to school, now he dreams about working in a large construction company. He sought help through us since being so young he does not receive a sufficient salary to pay for a private attorney to handle his case, and he also did not know the process.... Like him, there are still many other young people in the same situation, who have to decide between eating and paying a #lawyer, we exist to take that weight off their shoulders. Thanks to our funders and supporters, among which is The Roddenberry Foundation this one is for you!

This year we are not having our annual October gala, but we are honored to invite you to join our very first No-gala #Fundraiser, invite all your friends, colleagues, and family to participate! Go to https://bit.ly/30DEIhX The money raised each year directly funds SJC's #legalservices defending the rights of #immigrantfamilies in California.
