To our valued patients, In an effort to protect the health and safety of our patients, staff, and community, Southern California Sinus Institute and Dr. Cohen are taking the following steps: Beginning today Monday, March 23, the only in-office visits will be for urgent and emergent appointments, available for certain hours each day.... Routine follow-up appointments and medication refills can be done via video and telephone consultation with Dr. Cohen on a daily basis as well. Beginning immediately, we will also be available for video and telephone consults for new and existing patients. According to new guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Medical Association (AMA), these remote visits are covered by most PPO insurance and Medicare plans, and are billed as regular office visits. In accordance with CDC guidelines, we have implemented the proper infection control protocols to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19. We are closely following all the latest guidance from the CDC and other authorities. If you need an appointment or a telehealth (telephone or video) appointment, contact us at: 818-888-7878 Our normal business hours will resume as soon as is safely possible, as advised by the CDC and our local health authorities. If you are experiencing symptoms for the new coronavirus (COVID-19), including fever, cough, or shortness of breath, or if you have recently been exposed to someone who has the coronavirus, contact your regular physician to coordinate testing for possible coronavirus exposure. As the situation unfolds, our priority is to continue to provide the high-quality care our patients have come to expect as we take these extra safety precautions. We thank you for your patience and support during this time. Dr. Alen N. Cohen, Founder and Director, Southern California Sinus Institute (SCSI)

Have you ever had a cough that just seemed to take FOREVER to go away? You’re not alone. Scientific studies show that the average cough duration tends to last about 18 days. However, some experience chronic cough which lasts around 8 weeks! Many patients have all 3 conditions contributing to their cough.... 1. Post-nasal drip caused by allergies or sinusitis 2. Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) which is a cousin of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) 3. COPD or asthma If you or a loved one is experiencing chronic cough, there are treatment options available for relief. Contact Southern California Sinus today to learn more. Sinusitis is an incredibly common condition affecting millions of people each year. Sinusitis is commonly caused by inflammation of the paranasal sinuses as may results from allergies, nasal polyps, chronic infection (bacterial or fungal), autoimmune disorders or from chronic nasal obstruction due to a deviated septum or enlarged turbinates. Sinusitis commonly results in sinus headaches, facial and sinus pain, chronic runny nose/postnasal drip, chronic cough, recurrent ear ...or eye infections, ear congestion or fullness, and even tooth pain. The Southern California Sinus Institute is pleased to be able to offer patients suffering from recurrent or chronic sinusitis, a minimally invasive in-office solution, called Balloon Sinuplasty, which is performed in our Los Angeles area offices. Dr. Cohen has seen the numbers of his patients presenting with acute sinusitis soar. Some people in Southern California are more likely to experience sinus infections than others. Perhaps due to poor air quality, and urban sprawl, some strains of sinusitis have also evolved with increased resistance to antibiotics. Learn more http://ow.ly/d0o250BFMHF

Can sinusitis become something more serious? http://ow.ly/WeZ550BFLPb

Dr. Alen Cohen is one of a few nose and sinus surgeons in the country who is comfortable at and routinely performs in-office nasal/sinus polypectomy under local anesthesia in the comfort of the office with excellent results. Nose and sinus polyps are very commonly seen in Los Angeles and the Southern California region and are often due to advanced allergies or another unknown irritant in the environment. When they fail to respond to medical management with nasal steroid spra...ys, oral steroids, decongestants, antihistamines and various other medications, then either an In-Office Polypectomy or Minimally Invasive Image-Guided Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (MIGSS) is warranted to properly address these polyps and improve one’s quality of life permanently. This allows patients to once again breathe comfortably through their nose, smell and taste once again and avoid recurrent sinus infections. Contact us today to schedule an evaluation for this procedure with Dr. Cohen. (818) 888-7878 [email protected] www.socalsinus.com
