We remove these concrete steps today. It took us sometime as they were thick, reinforced with rebar and had a high psi mix. However it was just a matter of time before these stairs failed and possibly slid down the embankment. I see this all the time when concrete guys pour new concrete. They'll set the rebar and lay it out correctly but they don't pull it off the ground far enough. ... This section (last pic, steps were flipped upside down) of rebar was literally sitting on the ground, not covered by concrete and rust was setting in. The rust would have eventually rusted through the rebar and caused the steps to fail. Metal rebar is NOT supposed to be in close contact with the ground. FAIL!

This one of a few paver projects we've done. The crew enjoyed figuring out the pattern and love seeing the progress. This yard is going to be great. Thanks for the killer design @dianehummingbirddesign, we love working with you!

How many brand names can we fit in one pic? But all honestly having the right tools for the jobs makes life (and work) so much better. A good crew, is the main "tool" you need and with quality tools they will only be better!

This job is almost complete. Waiting for the retaining wall to be built, then lawn and plants!

With it still being in the 90s here in SoCal it's best if you do NOT feed your fish for the next few days. Also make sure your pumps are working at full capacity. That means make sure the leave traps or your skimmers are no restricting flow and your filter are clean. Warmer water holds less oxygen so you may notice your fish hanging out around the surface of the pond gasping for air off the surface. ... If you notice this and you do not have an air pump you can place a rock or branch so the water breaks the surface and creates more turbulence on the surface which will oxygen to the water. We'll get through this.

I've posted this before but posted it incorrectly and had to delete it, so here it is again! This is a birds eye view of the Simi project we did in late June and into July. Hope you enjoy it the same the second time around.

Check out the video of the Simi pond we built in June. Over 40 tons of boulders, a bunch of soil, sweat and hard work. https://youtu.be/jogrNJt5L_A

I was hiking with my kids over the weekend and stopped to look at this natural waterfall (minus the water). This is what a natural waterfall looks like when the seasonal rains bring this to life. I see all to often pond builders use two large stones on one side and a flat stone in the middle for the water weir... It's not natural and looks man made. We try to replicate #mothernature as much as we can with our pond and landscapes.

Here's a little bird's eye view of the Simi project. Days of excavation, 50+ tons of boulders & gravel 100's of feet of pipe and alot of sweat. What do you think?

We visited the Simi pond today, it's coming along as expected. Due to #covid we had a delay with the filter, but today we got it installed which was last puzzle piece to this pond. We will be back in a week or so check on everything again and post an update video. We've got some YouTube videos coming out soon, so in case you are not following us... Got to YouTube.com/socalponds and follow us so you don't miss the video.

I've had an obsession with plumeria flowers for a long time. I ha e over 30 plumeria bushes of varies sizes and colors. It was always my idea to plant a plumeria on each pond build we do. Sometimes the pond and plumeria go together others times they don't. On this pond, we had this center island section and I thought that this would be the perfect spot for a mature plumeria. We delivered, placed and installed it and it fit perfectly. In another year or two it will fill out... this area perfectly! What do you think?

We found a new friend at the beach.

We finally filled this pond up and turned on the pump. The water was flowing... Looking good. We will return next week to add aquatic plants, make some tweaks on the water, connect the underwater lights and introduce some fish.
