Message from Dave Jackson, FHF President: Hi FHF family, I hope this finds you well and making the best of a very different and difficult holiday season. We are all looking forward to the hope of 2021 and the vaccines that will allow us to live our lives, travel and yes play the sport we love again.... I have been in communication with the college and President Dr. Sokenu said we would be able to have work details at the field as soon as the stay at home order is over. We can have distanced practices for youth teams at that time provided we adhere to the latest public health guidelines. At the current time there are no scrimmages, games allowed under the guidelines and no provision for adult practices/training. We receive Public Health updates from VC public health each week so will update all FHF families as soon as we have s back to play clearance. Stay safe, stay masked in public and we will see you back on the field in 2021. Belated Diwali and Hannukah greetings, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of our families.

FHF Open Practice Hi all, This is a reminder of the FHF open practice time this Saturday morning from 10 am to 12 noon at the Arroyo Vista Park Roller Rink in Moorpark (see the details in the attached flyer). ... These sessions are open to all under age 18 especially those trying the sport for the first time. Bring your friends and have them try it!

We have not had any significant news due to Covid and Moorpark College being closed. It appears that there are some smaller college teams allowed on Campus this past week and we have sent correspondence to Campus President to see what a timeline may be for getting back on our field. We have an attestation number from the Ventura County Public Health and are finishing off our Covid plan in the next few days. If we cannot get back on Campus immediately, we can rent field space... for Youth socially distanced practices at any Ventura County park with the attestation and our posted plan. FHF will pay for field use upon request, please contact any member of the board or ask your Commissioner to submit on individual teams’ behalf. In the interim, Marc Bakerman has purchased 4 non touch thermometers and we should all get large containers of hand sanitizer for remote practices. Our AGM will be held at Arroyo Vista park in Moorpark at 10 am Sat Oct 10th. We currently have approximately 14 attendees and are limited under VC Public health to 25. There is a covered picnic area at the far end of the park that we can hopefully use (there are no reservations of these areas currently//first come first served). According to park protocol, please wear a mask or have one available if Sheriffs dept asks. If you would like to attend or have any issues that you would like discussed at the AGM, please send an email to either myself or Rob Joubert (FHF Systems Director) or post a reply (include you name in the post). Online, 3-Week Beginner and Junior Umpire Clinic USA Field Hockey is offering an online Beginner and Junior Umpire Clinic that will start Monday, July 27, and run for three consecutive weeks on Monday and Wednesday evenings. With a number of schools and institutions having their seasons shortened or put on hold, now is a great time to add the aspect of umpiring to your participation in field hockey. Umpiring offers you the ability to stay in the game, make new friends and ear...n some money in the process. All states, leagues and organizations are looking for newer, younger and educated umpires to help them during the upcoming seasons. This is also the first step in obtaining a proper rating and certification to umpire around the country. Guiding the club to 3 final appearances in the past 4 years (Field and Indoor), winning the first German Championship for MHC in the season 2016/17 and being one of our most consistent EHL players leading us to the Bronze Medal in 2019. Not only did you use share your vast International experience with the Team on the Pitch, one of your lasting legacies will be how you integrated and supported the younger players who were making the Transition from our Youth system to the 1st Men's Team. You were leading by example what does it mean to be a professional player and taking care of your body. Many of these players are now thriving within the environment that you created for them.
