Steve Fabian is an American sci-fi and fantasy illustrative icon. So I was surprised when I found this Fabian rendition of comic book hero Doctor Fate, back in the Seventies. To my knowledge, Fabian never worked in comics. Maybe the drawing was for a fanzine, but I have never found its purpose. Anyone know?
SOLD! We recently acquired a collection of Sci-Fi and Comic Fan Magazines including titles like Star Trek, Starlog, and Comics Scene. Instead of processing these into our inventory, we’ve decided to try and sell them all as a bundle, about 100 magazines for $25. Feel free to contact us with any questions. like always it’s first come, first served!
I missed a few years of SDCC from 1988 through 1994. I returned at the invitation of an old Con pal I’d known for years. I explored the show, now at its new location. The Art Show was within stumbling distance of my buddy’s booth. I looked at all the pro and amateur entries, but stopped at this one particular piece. Kelly Freas was a popular Mad Magazine cover artist and tagged the Dean of Science Fiction Art. I still find myself staring at all the details he’d buried into the wonderful page. If someone knows where it was published I’d appreciate that.

Here is a challenge for our FB friends. Compose a short, snappy comment in response to this email to SoCalComics: Did you know most modern age comics are worthless, cause I’m visiting your store from Victoria Canada. Do you have any modern comics for under fifty cents? Nothing mean or nasty. This is the worst customer pitch I’ve ever received.
