Live and Let Live Alano Club 09.01.2021

Hello again Alano Club family! Can you believe that Christmas is right around the corner and that 2020 will soon be behind us? Here is the 3rd letter in our End of Year Giving Campaign! Did you know our final Board of Directors meeting was last Tuesday? Your board members met via zoom, as we do several times each month, to discuss the good things we are doing here at the Live and Let Live Alano Club! This past December meeting was very important. We passed a Strategic Plan fo...r 2021-2023 which included an evaluation of our strengths and opportunities as well as how our club will look moving forward! We also passed a 2021 budget so we have a good view of how we will spend all of your contributions to the club as well as the grants we have earned throughout the year. These documents will be published after the holidays and we will invite you all to take a look at them in the near future! Scroll down to see a pic of your board hard at work! LLLAC staff and volunteers continue to monitor the pandemic situation and work behind the scenes to ensure that we are taking advantage of every opportunity to best serve our sober community, as well as planning and executing the growth of our beloved club. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes by our volunteers to help us continue to operate as an outstanding club! We gladly do it and we need your help now during our End-of-Year Giving Campaign to keep us going! Please click the button below to contribute to your club and help us move on strong in 2021! Warmest Wishes, LLLAC Board of Directors https://lllac.org/donate

Greetings Live and Let Live Alano Club family! #GivingTuesday is a time for our community to come together and rally around what is important to us. The LLLAC is a safe space for sober addicts and alcoholics of the San Diego LGBTQ community and beyond. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, the clubhouse has had to close our doors in the physical sense in order to follow local safety protocols. However, the LLLAC has continued to pursue our mission by providing a ...safe and sober cyber environment for our patrons through the use of online video platforms to host meetings that are critical to continued sobriety. LLLAC staff and volunteers continue to monitor the pandemic situation and work behind the scenes to ensure that we are taking advantage of every opportunity to best serve our sober community, as well as planning and executing the growth of our beloved club. The Tuesday after Thanksgiving has been deemed "Giving Tuesday." It is a "global generosity movement" where people around the globe give of their resources for the good of their communities and beloved causes. We at the LLLAC are utilizing this day to kick-off our end of year giving campaign. We know that you see the benefit of the Live and Let Live Alano club, and we are asking that you contribute to our cause. During the month of December, we will post each week highlighting the ongoing work that is being done by the LLLAC and how it impacts the lives of all that we serve! Whether you have one dollar to contribute, or hundreds, every penny is appreciated. YOU have the power to help a friend or family member stay safe and sober. We are all in this together, so please, join us in making a financial contribution to the Live and Let Live Alano Club! CLOSING 9PM TONIGHT The Live and Let Live Alano Club will be temporarily closing again at the end of business today. There is simply no way to remain open and be in compliance with the latest state and city guidelines. Of course the club hopes to open again soon, but at this time we don’t know when reopening will happen. A board subcommittee now meets weekly (and also quickly calls emergency meetings as needed) to keep current and compliant with this evolving health situat...ion. We’d all like to give a huge thanks to the club’s staff Laura and Yadim for their tremendous work and dedication during the successful - though brief - LLLAC reopening. Community feedback has been wonderful, and there have been no health, safety, or compliance issues reported since reopening. Thanks everyone for your continued support of the LLLAC.

In 1935 the 7th tradition for Alcoholics Anonymous was $1. In 1935 that was the price of a drink. If I were to put in the 7th tradition the price of a drink in 2019 my personal 7th tradition would be $11. We should remember in our disease we spent unlimited amounts of money. Giving $2 to $5 dollars for our recovery does not seem like much when we compare it to the amounts we spent keeping ourselves drunk or high. My first sponsor saw that I was putting $1 in the 7th tradition basket. He ask me how much I spent daily on my addictions. I was spending minimum $300 a day. My sponsor suggested I put $5 in the 7th tradition basket for every meeting I went to. I realized I am saving money and staying clean and sober.

Please excuse any noise and dust as we continue to set things up in our new home. All meetings should resume here at their already scheduled day and time unless you were informed otherwise by a meeting servant. Currently, we cannot sell hot beverages but we will have cold drinks (soda, water, and energy drinks) available for sale as well as limited snacks. At our discretion, we may serve FREE hot coffee for meeting attendees. Please continue to check our website: http://lllac.org for all the latest updates and meeting schedules as well as upcoming changes to the clubs new endeavors. We will try to put out information to you as quickly as we possible can. As a reminder, meeting rent is now $1 per person at each meeting. For example: If your meeting has 52 people in it on a given night, the rent will be $52. If your meeting has 11 people in it, your meeting rent will be $11 for that night. Also, now is a great time to show your love and support to the club by renewing, extending or starting a membership with us. You can do this on our website, by mailing a check, or by going to the club in person. Lastly, we would like to thank all of you who helped us make this move possible. So many of you gave your time, blood, sweat and tears to ensure that all of our tasks were completed on time. We could not have done this without every single one of you. This was an all-hands on deck moment and the LLLAC board of directions, the staff, the volunteers, our friends and family in and out of recovery, and the Stepping Stone community stepped up to meet this moment with fierce dedication, hard work, perseverance, and love. Give yourselves a pat on the back, you all deserve it. Please come see us at our new location: 3847 Park Blvd. San Diego, CA 92103.
