This young woman with her 6 month old daughter called us from National City. She was receiving help from an organization, but they had exhausted all resources they had and weren’t able to help her due to a lack of availability of programs. Leaving her stranded & back Homeless on the streets the next day. We were able to immediately step in and take over. Offering her immediate Shelter in a nice hotel, we were able to assist her with paperwork for resources, we purchased a Vo...lkswagen Jetta for her and got her a car seat and stroller and we are in the process of securing her a 2 bedroom apartment. We will continue to offer her long term assistance and do our part to make sure this young lady isn’t living on the streets. Operation Hydration During the Summer months, when temperatures soar towards the triple digits, life on the streets goes from unbearable to deadly. This Heat Danger disproportionately targets some of the most vulnerable populations including our Unsheltered Homeless Men, Women & Children. The @so.cal.yes outreach team set out today on a mission to help hydrate these individuals wherever they were. Handing out over 1,000 Bottles of Water & 500 Protein and Breakfast Bars! ... We came across at least 3 people today dangerously close to experiencing Heat Stroke. One individual we found completely passed out begging us for water when we woke him up. Just showing the extreme need for these types of services! The first person (Butch) that these High School students from Calvin Christian High School interview in this Youtube video in 2010... is still there at grape Day Park over 10 years later. Still homeless and still has a good attitude despite his challenges. Swipe We’ve been hard at work here @so.cal.yes doing what we set out to do. Helping those less fortunate. And that’s exactly what we do. In the last 90 days we’ve gone out in our community and served over 12,000 meals. Provided our Homeless Community over 400 Sleeping Bags, 300 Blankets, 300 Backpacks & over 4,000 Food & Hygiene Kits. The Homeless do not have the same resources normally available to them as a lot of agencies are either just reopening or were simply too... overwhelmed.
