Stars For Our Troops has been honoring soldiers, veterans, veteran spouses, and our nation's first responders for ten years. The national organization partners with community nonprofits, like Snowline, to gather retired American Flags and create special keepsakes. Individual stars from flags are given as patriotic gifts to honor our nation's heroes. Snowline's Veteran Outreach and Volunteer Department collaborate to support this initiative as a way to thank our many veterans ...and families. Tattered and un-serviceable United States flags are donated at any Snowline Thrift location and are retired by Snowline's Veteran Outreach Intern. Retired United States flags are then disbursed to volunteers who follow a strict protocol for handling and cutting the stars from each canton. "As a veteran myself, I’m honored to volunteer and assist Snowline Hospice We Honor Vets with the Stars for our Troops project. said volunteer, Susan Smith. Snowline Hospice is excited to announce a live auction benefiting Hospice Ethiopia! Items included in the auction were hand-selected by Snowline's Medical Director, Dr. Jeanine Ellinwood while providing care to hospice patients in Ethiopia. Dr. Ellinwood, traveled to Ethiopia recently and saw first hand the great need for hospice care and the amazing work Hospice Ethiopia does with such little resources.
