Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 206

We are so grateful for the generosity of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 206! They outdid themselves again this year. Look at all the toys they contributed. And if that wasn't enough we also received a check to support our continued efforts to care for young children!

Sheet Metal Workers and our contractors are competitive by nature. If someone else is doing something, we just have to do it better. When we heard about #Giving...Tuesday we just had to throw down with the biggest Tuesday of giving imaginable! This is our 6th annual trip to Target to purchase toys, clothes, diapers, and gift cards for Angel’s Foster Family Network. These beautiful people help infants and very young children find loving families to help them get through tough times that they have been born into. We just want to add a little holiday cheer to those kiddos and those families who have stepped up to save those young lives. This year our contractors association, SMACNA stepped in and matched what SMART Local 206 raised to make this our biggest year yet. We were also able to present Angel’s with a $2,000.00 check from #partnersinprogress, (a partnership between our union and our contractor’s association). Add all of that to two secret Santas, and we contributed over $7,000.00 as a TEAM! This has been a challenging year for everyone. Try and make someone’s holidays a little extra special if you can. To be UNION should mean something to you. To be part of something bigger than yourself that will benefit more than just yourself. Today we had a chance to prese...nt our SMART LOCAL 206 Volunteer of the Year Award to someone that understands that brotherhood. Gilberto Pinelo stepped up big this year! He showed up on weekends and came in after work on week days to volunteer when given the opportunity. He knows that volunteering to secure more work benefits his sisters and brothers. Showing up for ten events gets you $150.00 in Visa gift cards but Gilberto didn’t stop there. He showed up a total of 13 times! When asked why he continued to show up even though there wasn’t any extra benefit, he said because we all benefit from helping each other whenever we can. Hats off to you Gilberto! We have a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT that we just couldn’t wait until our next meeting to get out to everyone. SMART Local 206 is very happy to announce we have a new signed agreement with one of the largest mechanical contractors in Southern California, Murray Company! As a plumbing and pipe fitting contractor Murray Company is well established with G.C.‘s like Clark, McCarthy, DPR, Hensel Phelps, Turner, and several others. Some of their successful projects have been L. A. X. , Chil...dren’s Hospital of Orange County, Stanford Hospital, L. A. City Hall renovation, as well as being a preferred contractor for Kaiser Permanente. Last year alone Murray Co. did $380 million in business! We have had several discussions with the leadership at Murray Co. as they have begun to take on full mechanical projects up in L. A. and a couple here in San Diego. They expressed a need to have a good relationship with our local in order to be successful and we are happy to have them as a partner and look forward to providing them with the manpower they will need to win bids on projects that are on the horizon. Please help us welcome Murray Co. to SMART Local 206! We look forward to many years of teamwork and success.
