Brined and wrapped in @hodofoods yuba and fried, plopped in a sesame bun with herbs, pickled peppers, hot mustard and burnt scallion mayo, and peanut-chili-fried shallot crunchies. Apparently National Noodle Day was yesterday so here’s a pic of @liondancecafe ‘s laksa (pic taken by @girlfromcalifornia ). We make our rempah (spice paste) from scratch and add coconut and lemongrass-kombu stock to get a warming, rich tasting curry soup, served with rice noodles, tofu puffs, chili crisp, sambal, laksa leaf and more. If you’re more of a chewy wheat noodle type, swipe < for that good mapo tofu mee pull. It’s left the menu this week, but a garlicky Teochew chili oil combo mee took its place (a mix of fresh wheat noodles and beehoon aka rice vermicelli, pretty serious stuff). Mountain of peanuts for this week at @liondancecafe . Fried with makrut lime leaves, curry leaves, fresh lemongrass, chilies and other aromatics, they’re hard to put down and are honestly all we eat some days. We love them and are so glad y’all do too!

Mapo tofu mee pull in action Silky blobs of our fresh tofu (made in house using @hodofoods soymilk) and fresh wheat noodles in meaty shiitake and Sichuan peppercorn gravy, with Chinatown farmer’s market yuchoy and herbs. After this week we’re switching it up at @liondancecafe so get it while you can. Very into this spicy potato salad on Friday’s menu that’s also in its last week. @liondancecafe soft opening: week 1 is a wrap. We’re so grateful for everyone who helped make it happen and for everyone who got food from us. We’ll be adjusting and tweaking things as we go. A first change, ordering will start Wednesday at noon (instead of 10am) this coming week. Shoutout to our friends who made sure we ate by bringing us @camanhdeli lemongrass tofu banh mi (and TY @calicraft for the beer stash)!

We just received lots of beautiful tomatoes from @simmsorganics (check them out at a farmer’s market near you). A really good tomato + salt + pepper + mayo + toast (shaobing in this case) = happiness. These will all be sent to good homes, and what we keep will become juicy sunny sambal. @ Lion Dance Cafe
