Industry Alert: from our agent partner, AIT Worldwide Logistics, Inc. in China regarding: Coronavirus impacts transportation logistics As the novel coronavirus continues to spread, China has suspended land and ocean transport in several counties, and multiple airlines have suspended service to and from China. As such, AIT anticipates a manufacturing slowdown and limited shipment capacity between the United States and China through the end of February. Rate and Strategy Update...s AIT’s transportation logistics experts are developing new route solutions for customers importing or exporting from affected regions. AIT suggests that customers returning to work after Feb. 10 send items to Hong Kong first to avoid storage, then redirect the items back to their respective cities after staff return. Additionally, please note that the State Health Organization is placing shipment priority, including import customs clearance, on medical supplies. An Update from our Partner, NEER Service in France: Newsflash: Increased Risk of Shipment Delays - Ports Closure The risks of delays to shipments has increased as France enters Day 5 of the industrial action and the Port of Le Havre due to heavy winds. Industrial action by unions will also close the Port of Le Havre on Tuesday December 10th with the strike likely to continue on Wednesday.... The general strike which started on Thursday last week has brought transport chaos to Paris and other cities with trains operating at very limited capacity. Newsflash from our Partner in France, NEER Service: Strikes Expected to Bring France to a Standstill Industrial action is expected to cause serious disruption at ports, airports and for road traffic in France on December 5th, as many unions join together to protest against government plans to reform the country's pension system.... Workers in the transport sector will join metro and bus drivers, airline ground crew and air traffic controllers, lawyers, teachers, civil servants and postal workers in a day of industrial action that could continue for several days. NEER Service will continue to operate during the industrial action and will keep clients updated.
