The sustainability internship is unpaid but requires no federal work study eligibility and is open to all majors.

The Surfrider Los Angeles Chapter is looking for volunteers to help collect samples at multiple sites in Venice, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, & Malibu on Saturday mornings, and drop them off to the Surfrider LA lab in Santa Monica by noon. Enjoy going to the beach and knowing the water is clean to surf, swim, and play in? Have a flexible schedule on Saturday’s and can commit 3-5 hours monthly? Want to gain experience while making an impact in your community? We could real...ly use your help! No previous lab experience needed. All training is provided by our Blue Water Task Force Coordinator! Check out our open positions below EXPECTATIONS: o Can commit 3-5 hours monthly on Saturday or Sunday to their particular role [see detailed descriptions below] o Honors Surfrider LA mission and values o Maintain a positive attitude and remain consistent, punctual, and committed to follow-through o Attention to detail o Willingness to learn new tasks CURRENT OPEN VOLUNTEER POSITIONS: Blue Water Task Force Sampler Available on Saturday mornings to sample the water at a specific site or sites. Sites needing volunteers include: Venice Breakwater, Santa Monica Pier, Will Rogers Beach, Topanga Beach, Santa Monica Beach, Pico-Kenter Storm Drain, and Sunset Point. Blue Water Task Force Processor Available on Saturday afternoons to process samples collected that morning using lab procedure. Blue Water Task Force Results Reader Available on Sunday afternoons to read the results of the samples. Ready to join our team?
