When everyone in the store marvels over your super healthy cart, and you just smile and nod. No one needs to know...

We’re back from the recheck appointment with our rabbit friend. Dr. says another week of antibiotics and eye ointment, then recheck again next Saturday. We are REALLY hoping the eye won’t have to be removed. In the meantime, we are trying to find a rabbit rescue that can adopt him out. He is SO friendly and sweet, and just loves being around people. He’s the best!

What a treat to have Senator Bernie Sanders come all the way out here to visit Sloppy Seconds, Inc! He’s a very busy man, but every now and then you just need some down time to chill with some pigs and ducks. Thanks, Bernie! We hope you enjoy your stay!

UPDATE (10/26): A new home has been found!! The piggies will be traveling a couple of hours northeast to their new family in Somerset, CA. Still working out the details, transportation, etc. Thank you so much for all the shares, likes, and well wishes. It takes a village! **URGENT** ORINDA, CA These piggies are in desperate need of a home (or two homes - they don’t necessarily need to be rehomed together). Current owner having major health issues, selling house, etc. Trudy (pic 1) is a 5 yo spayed female; Elliot (pic 2) is a 4 yo neutered male. Both are friendly, outdoor pigs.

It’s World Animal Day! In these dark and uncertain times, our family is grateful to be surrounded by so many lovely animal friends. Even though we have human therapists as well, we think that our animals do the best job at keeping us calm, happy, and sane! What do animals do for you?

From a fellow rescuer. Overcrowding is a REAL problem. Though it’s an easy one to solve: Do your research. Adopt, don’t shop. Spay and neuter your pets.

Did you know that 97% of all pigs are rehomed during their first two years of life?? They are not an easy pet to care for, that’s for sure. Potential owners MUST to do their research - read about pigs as pets, follow social media groups for pig owners, visit rescues, call sanctuaries, spend time volunteering with pigs, etc etc etc. These photos below were taken from Petfinder today. Just a handful of pigs up for adoption in California. There are SO many more that aren’t listed. Please adopt, don’t shop. These pigs deserve a second (or third or fourth or fifth) chance. As always, we are available to call, email, or message we would love to talk pigs with you, and answer any questions you may have.
