Thank you Robert Rice for selecting me as this years recipient of the President's Award. Working hard with the CALI Board of Directors is an honor and the right thing to do for an organization which has given me so much.

SLI, Inc. CONTINUING TO SERVE DURING THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC. As you all know, Governor Gavin Newsom established Executive Order N-33-20, known by most as the Coronavirus Stay at Home Order, and made it effective March 19, 2020. In short, it ordered, all individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence except as needed to maintain continuity of operations of the federal critical infrastructure sectors The governor’s office further ...defined those sectors listed as critical and published a list of Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers. https://covid19.ca.gov//EssentialCriticalInfrastructureWor While Private Investigators are not expressly mentioned on this list, the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) and the California Association of Licensed Investigators (CALI) both stated that in many situations, the duties of a Private Investigator are considered essential as they are Professional Services which are necessary to assist in compliance with legally mandated activities and critical sector services. Those sectors listed where private investigators commonly provide professional services include Other Community-Based Government Operations and Essential Functions, and Financial Services which includes Insurance Companies, Insurance Services and workers who support them. As such SLI, Inc. and its Investigators are here to continue to assist our clients who consist of insurance carriers, attorneys, government entities and other third parties in the insurance industry. Our Field Investigators who are working from home now take statements via one of several live video conference options. This still allows our investigators to obtain photos of the applicant and witnesses, obtain photos of identification cards, copies of insurance documentation and to monitor the applicant as they correctly complete required medical release forms during the conference call. Our investigators continue to make audio recordings during the video conference and if needed, interpreters are included via a three-way call. Field Investigators continue to travel and perform loss scene inspections when requested and Surveillance Investigators remain available and ready to document an applicant who is taking this time to complete a long list of home improvement projects. Necessary PPE is provided to those investigators who agree to work away from their residence when necessary. Also, with the assistance of a Public Health Nurse and an Attorney, we have created a series of questions which we feel should be asked to an applicant who is alleging exposure to COVID-19 while working. We thank you for continuing to work with us and we hope everyone is doing as well as can be during these trying times. Please call or email if you have a question about the services we can continue to offer.
