Good morning! Yesterday brought some good news for Skylake. The evacuation order has been lifted for our area. Though the fire is far from fully contained and much is still at stake for many people and the wilderness, Skylake and our surrounding area have been spared. We are cautiously optimistic. Jeff is heading back to camp today to secure the property. We are excited to get back into very focused planning for summer 2021!

Fire update: The Sierra National Forest Creek Fire live update last night was encouraging. The fire is now 6% contained! These fire fighters and their technique to fight this fire are amazing. We aren't free and clear yet, but things are looking better. We continue to hope and prey for the best for Skylake and so many others affected by fires right now. Thank you for your continued messages of hope, we appreciate and love hearing from you.

We wanted to update our Skylake friends and family on the Creek Fire. The fire situation for Skylake is precarious. The Creek Fire is now over 160,000 acres and there is zero containment. The fire has spread over an area 30 miles long and 20 miles wide. Bass Lake is currently about 7 miles from the fire perimeter. We appreciate all of the calls and emails of support. The Bass Lake basin, and all of the surrounding area south and east are under mandatory evacuation. We le...ft camp on Monday night after turning off all the propane. It is not possible to return to camp at this time. We watch along with all of you the fires progress. Our thoughts are constantly with the firefighters dealing with this tragedy as well as all over California and Oregon. A good source we have found on the Creek Fire is on abc30.com as well as Fresno and Madera County Sheriff facebook pages. Nightly updates on the fire are airing at 7pm PST. Keep the positive vibes and thoughts coming. See more

Looking back to last summer when former camper, Richard Gardner, swam the length of Bass Lake as he continues to raise awareness for MS. It was such a special day!

"Together we are stronger, together we are unbroken, together we can do anything. These are the thoughts we work to carry with us as we announce with great sadness that our normal summer sessions will not be held this year, for the first time in 75 years. While we are working on contingency plans and still striving to bring camp together in some fashion, camp this summer will not take place as normally planned. We love our Skylake community, past and present. We appreciate your support during this very hard time. We look forward to next summer when we return to the Magic we all know and love. Happiness is Skylake Magic. Skylake Magic lives in all of us.
