Skyeford Farm 07.11.2020

Last month, April 18th, we had our largest hatch ever! 15 chicks Now that their old enough theyve been added to the 'baby' avary. A large 12' by 5' pin just for youngsters. With this unexpected cold weather I decided to give them some warm oatmeal for lunch.

3 different BLRW Roos. Roo 'Rebba', Roo 'Loretta', and Roo 'Balu' (Rebba and Loretta were generously donated to us, so we kept their original names)

Family tree!! Hen 'NoNo' bred with 'Balu' the Roo. Gives me the 2nd generation-Roo 'Gym' (Roo w/ fluffy cheeks) who was breed with 2nd generation- 'RobHen'(parents are hen 'C.C.' and Roo 'Rebba'). Who has now hatched 3rd generation 'Lacy' I added names to the photos

This lovely girl is an E.E-lays blue eggs. Her name is "NoNo"--long story but she looks just like my hen C.C....in Spanish 'sisi' is 'yesyes'- so we named her NoNo Shes about 2 years now, and I used her as one of my hens to start the BLRW/EE hybrid breeding-because she already had a lot of blue highlight feathers. She has a silly name but shes one of my favorite hens.

This special girl needs a name too (I'm thinking Lacy) she's a 3rd generation special hybrid! Using a handful of BLRWs, a Lavander amaracana, and one E.E hen I found that had a lot of blue grey lacing. I only keep the best Blue laced hens to breed. And I'm cycling several roosters so no imbreeding!!! Pictures of this ones parents are included

Super adorable new batch of chicks!! These are an instant favorite, their chicks from my breeding project Ive been working on for the BlueLaced-red Wyandotte/Lavander Amaracana hybrid-this makes my 3rd generation and the patterns are coming out so well! 1rst and 2nd generation still laid blue eggs so Im hoping this 3rd generation will too!! So far they already look perfect!!
