Happy International Dance Day! When we move, we are living, movement is life- celebrate the health of your body and dance to whatever music that makes you move ...today! Your body is your home, take care of it and encourage others to do the same. <3 Here is an excerpt from a new choreography Tara created as a commissioned soloist for the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival in collaboration with the exceptionally talented Ali Paris on qanun at Zellerbach Hall last June 2019. The beginning composition of this piece is based on a beautiful traditional Uyghur song titled: Mirajaxan. This piece was inspired by Tara's dance research on Central Asian dancers of the courts and the stigmas surrounding artists who use their bodies as an instrument for artistic creation. Visit Ali Paris's page to explore more beautiful qanun music by him: https://www.facebook.com/AliParisMusic/ Filming by Rapt Producations #internationaldanceday #taracatherinepandeyadance #aliparis #sanfranciscoethnicdancefestival #zellerbach #calperformances #centralasiandance #uyghurmusic #mirajaxan #qanun #dance

Rukmini is lovelorn and wonders whether she will attain union with Sri Krishna. Rukmini sends a letter through a Brahmin, informing Sri Krishna that she cannot live without him. Sri Krishna receives the letter and takes away Rukmini from her ill fate. Rukmi is enraged and a battle ensues between Rukmi and Sri Krishna, where Rukmi fails. Sri Krishna spares Rukmi and proceeds to the festivities to solemnize the wedding between him and Rukmini.
