Avocados! if you live in sunny California or an area of harsher days of winter, it's important that to receive enough essential fatty acids EFA's. Your body cannot make EFA's on its own and therefore, it is necessary to get this nourishment through your diet. Coconut, olives, and of course avocados, are building blocks of healthy cell membranes. These fats produce a natural oil barrier, allowing skin to appear hydrated, plump, and smooth. Monosaturated fats and omega-3 fatty... acids can help the skin be moisturized from the Iinside out by absorbing the fat-soluble vitamins a, d, e, and K. Avocados are a great source of both fats and vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that is essential for the maintenance of healthy skin! Avocados also contain vitamin C, which helps stimulate the skin's collagen production... So enjoy the guacamole andsoothe winter weary skin. See more

LED is very different from lasers and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), which rely on thermal (heat) injury to the skin’s collagen, water or blood vessels to create changes in the skin’s appearance. The process by which light is emitted by the LED’s is similar to that of photosynthesis in plants. Simply put, LED light gets converted into energy, or more specifically, ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate). This is the form of energy that cells use to power the metabolic processes needed to... repair or regenerate cell and tissue components and restore balance. Different wavelengths (colours) of the visible light spectrum (think the colours of the rainbow) act on different mechanisms within individual cells: red to promote collagen growth; and violet-blue to help kill acne-causing bacteria. The chosen colours are one of the most important points. Depth of penetration is dependant on the wavelengths (nm), which has a direct bearing on the results achieved. See more

Think Zinc! People who suffer from inflammatory skin diseases tend to have lower levels of zinc in their body. Zinc plays a vital role in skin Health. Similar to an antioxidant, Zinc helps heal and rejuvenate skin. The mineral reduces the formation of harmful free radicals and protects skin when it's exposed to pollution, ultraviolet light, and other skin-agers. ... Zinc also helps facilitate apoptosis (which is programmed cell death), which is a natural part of skin renewal. Individuals with a Zinc deficiency, skin cells stick together instead of dying and sloughing off as they should. This build-up of bacteria, oil, and skin cells blocked pores, causing the skin to turn red, swollen, and tender,. Eventually, acne forms. Because Zinc regulates cell production and turnover, it can help naturally reduce the amount of oil your skin produces, possibly preventing clogged pores in the first place. Credit: Alex Caspero
