After careful consideration and thoughtful discussion focused on the concerns of the global COVID-19 pandemic and the current financial situation at the San Joaquin County Fair, the Fair Board of Directors has decided to suspend the June 18-21, 2020 edition of the San Joaquin County Fair. This is a difficult decision and we know that it will take time for our Fair Community to recover. We appreciate everyone who has worked so hard to support the Fair. We look forward to celebrating our community with the 2021 San Joaquin Fair next year. The San Joaquin Fair wishes health and safety through these difficult circumstances.

The 35th Annual San Joaquin Asparagus Festival Postpones Event Due To National Concerns With COVID-19 March 23, 2020 - Heather Chambers The Noceti Group, Inc.... is very sorry to announce the Annual San Joaquin Asparagus Festival which was scheduled to take place April 17-19, 2020 has been postponed to April 16-18, 2021. Unfortunately the beautiful, luscious green festival acclaimed vegetable, Asparagus, is harvested from late February through May in the Delta and the San Joaquin Valley restricting us from a later date in the year. Not to mention the every changing dynamics of COVID-19, we are committed to helping flatten the curve by protecting the general public as well as everyone who is involved in making this festival happen. Clearly this was not a course of action we hoped to take for our 35th anniversary, but following Governor Gavin Newsom’s Executive Order N-25-20 and Gathering Guidance issued by the California Department of Public Health - and in times of such unprecedented uncertainty - this is now our only viable option. On March 4, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom proclaimed a State of Emergency to exist as a result of the threat of COVID-19 and subsequently, issued Executive Order N-25-20 (March 12, 2020) that requires compliance with any orders and guidance of state and local public health officials. On March 11, 2020, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued Gathering Guidance which states that large gatherings should be cancelled. Updated guidance issued March 16, 2020, states that all events that bring people together in a stadium or other outdoor space should be cancelled until further guidance is issued by the CDPH. We very much hope that the current COVID-19 situation, not only in California, but in the entire World will have improved immensely in the days to come. The postponement of this year’s Festival will no doubt come as a terrible blow to our incredible team and massive amount of dedicated volunteers who work so hard to make this event happen. There will also inevitably be severe financial implications as a result of the developing COVID-19 pandemic - not just for us, also the Festival’s volunteer groups, vendors, suppliers and surrounding communities during these trying times. As businesses struggle to cope with the ongoing effects of the global COVID-19 epidemic, shopping and supporting local businesses is encouraged as much as possible. We are committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of our Festival attendees, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, entertainers and staff who continue to support our decision and look forward to a healthy new date, with an abundant amount of delicious locally grown Asparagus in 2021.
