Repost from @stjeanne_ffa Our service project is up and running! We are excited to serve our community through growing in our community garden. We planted strawberries, squash, herbs, tomatoes, potatoes, sugar snap peas, green beans, lettuce and cucumbers today. Once our produce is ready, we will help feed our Temecula neighbors who have been struggling to make ends meet due to the pandemic. @southernregionffa @riversidesectionffa @nationalffa @californiaffa #rightinourbackyard #serving #livebydoing #ffa @cityoftemecula @temeculachamber
Congratulations to our high school students for creating a beautiful service project to help those in need.
Father Tomas graciously blessed our expanding campus this morning. After morning Mass, the high school students processed from the grotto to our new classrooms to bear witness to the blessing. "God, bless these classrooms and all who dwell within them. May the strength of their walls make the students safe, keeping peace within and trouble without, but through its open windows and doors, let nature come. May this be a place where students' laughter is heard, and all present w...ill be treated with loving respect. May the compassion nurtured here be a model for the larger world. May, all students who enter this sheltered place experience the freedom, calm, and safety necessary to learn, dialogue, and explore. Let those within these classrooms share numerous passages of spiritual and critical thinking, and may the peace and happiness of youth fill them to overflowing." See more
Some of our middle schoolers took part in FFA week by planting seeds in the middle school garden. The students learned from Sister Zina how to properly plant and water the seeds in order for them to grow into healthy vegetables. Can't wait to see what they produce!
"Leave the tomb" "Today's Gospel narrates the suffering of a man who, in addition to the evil possesses him and who are a multitude, is incapable of being helped by anyone. Jesus is able to see the pain of this man who lives among the tombs, and with his word frees him from the evil that torments him. We have all witnessed people living in the midst of death due to social, political and religious structures that exclude and marginalize, and we also know that our own heart can be dominated by selfishness and vanity. What binds you and doesn't allow you to help others? What tombs would you like to help others get out of?
Pre-K teacher, Mrs. Lavoie, taught students about her home state of Alaska. Students built igloos and learned all about the animal life in the northern most state.
Our Father Mt 6: 7-15 Today, the Church celebrates the feast of St. Polycarp, one of the first martyrs of the Church.... With him many other Fathers of the Church announced the living presence of Jesus amid an oppressive and barbaric system. Where did they draw the strength to proclaim the Kingdom in the midst of tyranny? Today's Gospel gives us one key: prayer, and especially the prayer of the Our Father, in which much of the Christian experience of perceiving, accepting and embracing God as Father is expressed. During the day, sit quietly and enjoy some of the phrases in this beautiful prayer... Sit with me, beloved, beloved son or daughter.
I say to you Mk 2:1-12 Today's story narrates how people looked for Jesus. They approached him to heal them of all kinds of diseases. On his part, Jesus proposed the Word; that is, he gave them the entire experience of an encounter of love with the Father in prayer. The Word is what every Christian must delve into every day in prayer. In the Word we find a way that teaches us a way of life. When we synchronize with the Word our life has a different tonality. We find a compass that points us to a horizon filled with meaning. This is a good time to meditate on the Word of God; in it we will find a syntax that will give a different meaning to our life.
Our eighth-grade students had the wonderful opportunity of exchanging with one of our sister schools in São Paulo, Brazil. The students learned about the Brazilian culture, food, transportation, and music. With 86 schools in 28 countries the Company of Mary’s international network provides our students with an abundance of global opportunities.
A sower went out to sow Mk 4:1-20 The seed that Jesus wants to sow in each one of us is love. Love is the only thing that can transform the earth; love is what makes the seed germinate, grow and bear fruit. Love is the characteristic of the Kingdom of God that Jesus proclaims. Love is what our being, our family, our society need so that we can live in a country where peace and justice reign. By welcoming and experiencing the love of God that Jesus reveals to us, we become sowers. Our mission is to share and give this love to the people around us, in total gratuity, without any desire for reward. Thus, as the parable of the sower expresses , the harvest will not depend on us. This is the free choice for each human being. It will depend on the readiness of spirit.

Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother. Mk 3:31-35 Jesus invites us to think about being a family. For Jesus there is a second family that relies on listening to the Word of God. Listening to the Word, discerning its message, we enter into harmony with the will of the Father. Doing God's will puts us in motion to seek it at every moment; it does not let us be stagnant because the spirit is creative, it moves. Let us ask for the grace to remain constant in prayer, to continue trusting, hoping and loving in our daily life so that within it we may discover God's will and be faithful to it.
I do will it. Be made clean Mk 1:40-45 These two wishes are both in the same direction and seek the possibility of their fulfillment. The leper, wishing to free himself from his illness, approaches Jesus and expresses: "If you wish, you can make me clean;" it is an act of total gratuity. He makes himself available and allows Jesus to do his work. On his apart, Jesus touches him, contemplates his face, sees his heart and expresses: "I do will it, be made clean!" How often ...in our existence do we see this scene replicated? How many people have approached us and desired to reestablish a relationship? Furthermore, how many people expect to feel wanted and loved by us? Only love can restore hurt. Let us ask God for the grace to free our hearts from all kinds of shackles that separate us from the other, that disfigure their face. Let us free ourselves so that we can draw closer and like Jesus be able to say: "I do will it, be made clean!" See more

Have among yourselves the same attitude of Christ Jesus Phil 2:5-11 Saint Paul’s invitation today is the center of our Christian identity. We are all called to make the values and teachings of Jesus present in our world, and this happens when we make his style and way of life our own. To shape our lives in reference to Jesus requires time, perseverance, and an internal desire to be like him. This comes about when we make room for the Gospel in our lives and we pray. As we contemplate Jesus we internalize and make his feelings our own. In the Second Week of the Spiritual Exercises, Saint Ignatius invites us to make the following petition: Ask for an inner knowledge of Jesus, who has become a man for me, so that I love him more and follow him. May we grow in the desire to know Jesus and to make his way of being come alive in our lives.

Father into your hands, I commend my Spirit Lk 23:46 Feast of All Souls Today, we remember those who have been part of our lives and have passed on. Let us bring to mind their faces, their names and the mark they left in our lives. Let us thank God for the gift of having shared life with them. Today they are still part of us, they live in our memory, in our hearts. It is also a day to show solidarity with so many families who have lost a loved one this year. We know that due to the health crisis the departure of many to the Father's house has been premature. However, in light of our Christian hope we are aware that we have gained an angel who accompanies us eternally. May the power of God's love sustain us and give us the strength to live the Easter of our loved ones.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven Mt 5:1-12a Feast of All Saints We begin a new month, and together with the Church we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints. This is a celebration that helps understand that it is possible to live a Christian life in the fullness of love for God, and it manifests itself in service to our brothers and sisters. This is evident in history by all the people who have been proclaimed saints, as well as in those anonymous saints who day after day make their life a total offering to God through small actions that transform lives. Let us ask for the grace to unite ourselves to the communion of Saints on this special day and thus be people who promote the unity of the Church and the whole world every day.
Come and get it! Trick or treat car parade 2-4PM at #sjdls
Happy Halloween!! #sjdls #sjhs #halloween #trickortreat
For me to live is Christ Phil 1:18 b -26 Saint Paul's personal encounter with Jesus led him to desire to be shaped by the sentiments of Jesus every day. In each of his interventions we can see that after his conversion his life was Christ. Paul's passion to make Jesus known everywhere is a testimony for us today. He served with humility and simplicity; he whole-heartedly transmitted the love he received and encouraged each community to remain firm in the faith. He made the Word his shield and the strength to overcome difficulties. It is good to stop and ask ourselves what the presence of the Risen One, of Christ, means in my life, in my family, in my community. Let us give thanks because his life is a source of strength and encouragement to live today with hope.
As the month of October (dedicated to the Rosary) comes to a close, we are so excited to unveil our new Rosary Garden, which was generously gifted by one of our school families. Our students were invited to come out and pray, one class at a time. We are so grateful for this beautiful prayer space.
God desires the wellbeing of his children Lk 14:1-6 Jesus knows that they spy on him, they watch him with the intention of judging his actions based on the law. He is so aware of this reality that he asks them the question, Is it legal to cure on the Sabbath, or not? Faced with the silence of the Pharisees, Jesus does not speak, but instead takes action, and in doing so, he risks going against the current of the environment in which he lives. Given this, the lesson of Jesu...s is clear: for him the person is first before the law. By liberating the man from his disease, he rescues the original meaning of the "Sabbath;" that is, celebrate the liberation from Egypt and rest. This was what the man with dropsy experienced: liberation and rest. Let us ask for the grace that with our thoughts and actions we may help people experience liberation and rest. Jesus reveals to us that above all, God wants the wellbeing of his children, and that is what we must do, always seek the good. See more

A prophet helps to interpret reality according to God’s vision Lk 13:31-35 The words of Jesus caused discomfort in some people. Jesus invited those who heard him to interpret reality from the perspective of his Father loving and merciful gaze, a God who seeks the good of all and the fulfillment of their human dignity. This was a message that created discomfort in the leaders of his time because they knew that listening to Jesus meant going out of their comfort zones. The tru...th that Jesus expressed revealed human frailties, and this was scandalous in the eyes for some. This is the reason they wanted to eliminate him. Let us ask for the grace to accept that particular truth that bothers us in our personal life. Let us pray that with God's help we may remove the masks and veils that hide who we are, that we may accept our vulnerability, our imperfection in order to welcome the prophetic voice that God gives us through those who confront and enlighten us so as not to continue in the dark. Our middle school students had the opportunity to learn from Ashley Hutchinson, a clinical social worker, about addictive behavior as we continue our Red Ribbon Week. The students got to ask Mrs. Hutchinson questions about how to avoid addictive behaviors and how to replace them with positive behaviors. Thank you, Mrs. Hutchinson, for sharing with the Saint Jeanne’s community!
