Governor Newsom signed an executive order to halt evictions, but cities still have to pass local ordinances - San Jose is moving forward with an eviction morato...rium today, but RENT still has to be paid after the proposed temporary order of 30 days is over. Families won’t be homeless in 30 days, but in 60 days or 120 days from now we could be. Contact the council NOW: In addition to a moratorium on evictions, we urge you to enact a moratorium on rental increases and enact a ‘rent and mortgage amnesty for tenants’ -- residential and small businesses alike -- impacted by the virus in San Jose, until public health professionals have determined that the COVID-19 outbreak has been contained. Our second anti-racism workshop will take place on Friday, March 20th at 6pm. We have had TWO Black Lives Matter signs stolen from our yard, which tells us that we have neighbors who don't agree that BLACK LIVES MATTER.
