Look at all of the language that can occur when carving pumpkins! You can incorporate so many things: following directions, sequencing the steps, and describing. Thanks @letstacoboutspeechpodcast for sharing! What fall activity do you like to do?

It’s a new school year full of unknowns. Caregivers, we see you! Growth mindsets can help us in times of stress and uncertainty and can help us embrace challenges. @thechildhoodcollective brings us these mantras to speak out loud for ourselves, but they are also a way for our children to hear our positivity. Which one will you pick to say confidently? Good luck, caregivers! We are here to support you!
New Research Summary! We frequently get asked about bilingualism and if parents should try to only use English because that’s what the child will eventually learn in school. New research continues to support that you should speak the language you feel most comfortable speaking because good exposure to a language matters! Bilingualism is a wonderful thing for cognitive development and being bilingual will not confuse your child early on or cause them to be delayed. Full citation: Marchman, V.A., Bermúdez, V.N., Bang, J.Y., Fernald, A. (2020). Off to a good start: Early Spanish-language processing efficiency supports Spanish- and English-language outcomes at 4 12 years in sequential bilinguals. Great reminder from @mrsspeechiep! This topic comes up a lot with parents in our office. Bilingualism does not cause delays or confuse the child, so keep using all of the languages you speak in the home Bilingual children should be meeting the same developmental milestones as monolingual children, so give us a call for a free consultation if you have questions or concerns!

You are appreciated and are doing a wonderful job!! *Shown are 2 activities from today: making a pie for requesting and following directions and customized articulation chutes and ladders!
Enjoy this quick recipe that is perfect for making with kids! Describe and talk throughout this recipe, work on following directions, and most importantly just enjoy the time spent with your child!
Here’s a scavenger hunt from @primaryplayground to do together with your child! You can work on speech goals for any level. If you’re working on single word production practice saying the name of the item you found (car); two words (red car), short sentences (I see a car). You can also work on describing the items that you found (color, size, shape, function, parts, location). Car= red, we drive it, has tires and windows, it goes fast, we find it on the road, etc. Spend some time today hunting for items in your home! Stay safe everyone!
