Take some time to find joy in the moment today!
It is time to get your vitamin D checked!!! If you are a current patient, reach out to me and I will send you a lab order form. If you want a doctor who looks at your whole health including nutrition, set up a free fifteen minute consultation with me so we can get started.
"Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh. There was a pause. "Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.... "No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do." "That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend. "What are you doing?" asked Pooh. "Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either. "But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh." And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right." A.A. Milne Sending thoughts to those having a Difficult Day today and hope you have your own Piglet to sit beside you
This is the preschool that our girls attend. There is a huge outdoor space with plenty of room for social distancing and outdoor school. If you know anyone with preschool kids, I can’t recommend this school and it’s staff more highly. They are amazing at teaching kids through play based learning! We love them!
Are your students or kids participating in remote learning in the fall? These wonderful pictures from AL-inclusive Therapy Services demonstrate proper setup to... help support your students’ posture. Having a good base of support also supports fine motor skills! Think about trying to write nearly while sitting on a chair that wobbles or while sitting in a large chair with only your tiptoes touching the ground. This is difficult to do and is similar to how it feels for children working on fine motor skills when their posture is not supported! Children should switch positions frequently throughout the day. They shouldn’t stay in one position. If your child feels uncomfortable, fatigued, or upset in any position, do not do have your child sit this way ! Some of the seating positions are meant to just provide a different way to sit to help with posture, strength, proprioceptive input & a little stretch! Talk to your doctor, OT or PT if you have questions about your child and how they are sitting! The science on masks. Masks along with hand washing, physical distancing, rapid testing and contact tracing are key to reducing the spread of COVID 19.
Here is some interesting new science being put to work to protect against COVID19.
Remember to take breaks from anything or anyone who stresses you out, take a night off from the news, take a bath away from the kids, read a book!
Low plasma vitamin D levels emerged as an independent risk factor for COVID-19 infection and hospitalization in a large, population-based study. Participants positive for COVID-19 were 50% more likely to have low vs normal 25(OH)D levels in a multivariate analysis that controlled for other confounders, for example. The take home message for physicians is to "test patients' vitamin D levels and keep them optimal for the overall health as well as for a better immuno-response to COVID-19," senior author Milana Frenkel-Morgenstern, PhD, head of the Cancer Genomics and BioComputing of Complex Diseases Lab at Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel, told Medscape Medical News.
