Over 100 volunteers is what it took to pull off our first ever SYB Field of Screams Trunk or Treat, along with some awesome sponsors who helped make it even more special! We took lots of precautions to create an environment that people felt comfortable to be out and about in. We set up and followed protocols like temps checks and checklists (especially for our volunteers), to distancing the spots throughout the park (which just make trunk or treat feel more like a scavenger... hunt!), and having everyone RSVP for timeslots to spread out the flow. Lots of planning and logistics were taken into account for today! I personally want to thank each and every one of you! Many were behind the scenes, lots of you hosted trunks, several ran all over for hours getting things set up, making sure it ran smoothly, and cleaned up like nothing ever happened. Simi Youth is a place where baseball and family are one. We wanted to provide a safer alternative/addition to trick or treating for our players and their families given this would be an abnormal Halloween, especially after the year they’ve endured! It was exciting to see all those smiling faces, to feel like one big happy family together again. Even though we spaced out time slots, kept everyone social distanced, and tried to recognize each other in masks, it felt good all the same! We appreciate our SYB Family and hope you know we can’t wait to return to business as usual. Thank you all for your patience through this pandemic, we hope you’re all healthy and safe! We hope that if you were able to do the drive thru option, you know that your goodie bags were also filled with lots of love and we miss you! Those of you who walked through, we hope that you felt a little Halloween magic today and took in some much needed Vit D! We are so glad we could make this a fun day together and when it was all set up, what made it fun was all of you who came through and visited the stations! So thank you for letting us be part of your Halloween and putting a smile on all of our faces today! We missed you! Shoutout to Stu Miller - Seasonal Adventures! Thank you so much for donating the pumpkins! We were able to give a pumpkin to all of our families who came through our Field of Screams Trunk or Treat today! We know you couldn’t open this year because of Covid, but here you are still spreading cheer and we all look forward to you reopening next year! Special thank you to Coach Jason Dickson from Encore Baseball Academy! He picked them ALL up from the lot and delivered them for us! We couldn’t have had this pumpkin patch without you! Announcing the 2020 Shetland to Pony Award Recipients! This year we presented 8 players with an award for playing at SYB from Shetland to Pony for consecutive Spring Seasons. Todays highlight recipient, the seventh of the eight, is Matthew Ramire! Let’s all give him some SYB love! ... We would like to thank Ramirez Family for being part of the SYB family for all these years! When we asked Matthew what his words of wisdom would be to all the younger players, he said To all players at SYB: Have fun, enjoy your time at SYB and don’t take it for granted. One day all you’ll have are the great memories, and a closet full of trophies. Well said, Matthew! We wish you the best of luck in your high school sports, studies and beyond! We know you’ll do great things!
